Nope... don't run AH... it won't let you rotate the car.
True... when it's wet out I don't try new things... it was a completely controlled off. Once I knew I wasn't staying on track I just drove it off.
I heard about that.. didn't see it.
I take it you're suggesting he could have saved it if he'd kept some throttle and steering vs. going both feet in?

Damn Brian, Get a John Deer if you want to do a little agricultural work!
Glad you didn't bend anything!
I had flashbacks to my "off" at T10...

he was in a sideways/forward slide.... a lil throttle and steering input would have changed his trajectory enough to keep him out of the wall.IMO Not suggesting NOT going both feet in when you get into trouble and trying "to save it", but don't quit driving afterwards, which is what i looked like from my view point. I agree he did the right thing by going both feet in, but after the car was back under control and slowed down greatly... take the car under your control. That's also VERY easy to say while standing on the observation deck... i may have bought a piece of Armco in his situation too.

C5 between turns 3-4

Safety Car
I remember turns 3 and 4 as both misleadingly (my instinct and eyes kept pushing me to early apex) late apex corners. I had less trouble with 3 as I learned to track out and hit the brakes late and turn late (later then my gut was telling me). With turn 4, I early apexed a little almost every time, and this upset the car a little (just the steering, no extra gas). You really don't need to be on it much here; this is a lot of steering to do and a lot to getting the car to the right part of the apex.
As my instuctor emphasized, if you aren't smooth with the throttle, the downshifts, and the braking (but the first 2 were my larger trouble spots) you will spin your car at VIR if you do those non-smooth inputs in the wrong places. I knew not to lift suddenly or gas suddenly in turns 3-4, there's no downshift there, and of course you brake before the turn, so that's why I never went off.
I'll be working on smoothness of a lot of stuff before I do another DE.

Burning Brakes
I am the driver that hit the tires/armco. I lost control under power in 3rd gear. I did put both feet in, and and the last minute I tried power, and the car had already shut off,so I braced for the impact. The last thing I saw was armco, but have rubber marks on car. Please tell me what happened. Car was not hurt bad, should be ready for nasa race at vir by end of the month
Thanx, Larry

Maybe you were thinking about this when you went off in T4: (This road is just before the entrance to VIR)
This looks like it was taken just after you stopped:
Armco? You were a few feet away from the Armco. I only see walls of tires. Bugeater will tell you how much Armco is to replace after we took out 3 uprights and moved the wall back about 9'.
See ya at VIR for NASA...
