Default street vs race pads, same rotor

For a dual-use car (HPDE and street), would I need to re-bed the pads whenever I swap race/street pads? Or only when a brand new set of pads is installed.

Whenever I swap out, it feels skiddish until I do some 30-60mph runs to re-bed.

I recall reading a couple years ago here that Hawk street pads and some of their race pads share some of the same compounds. If you switch from say HPS pads to HP+ or Blacks, the idea was that you should not have to bed the new pads as long as you don't change the rotors.

Not sure if that applies to other brands of pads where street and race-level pads are swapped.

But it's still a good idea to make a few medium-speed stops and then let the brakes sit for 15 minutes without use.
