Tire Recommendations for High-Speed Autocrossing
Need a DOT Tire recommendation for a 1995 Corvette Coupe that will be used to run only high-speed autocross and solo road racing events. The Vette will be trailered to all events and will not be driven on the street. Plan is to have Corvette run Goup II/Class G under National Council of Corvette Club rules. Available wheels are all 17" and vary in width from 9.5" to 10" to 11.5".
All recommendations and tire suggestions welcomed.

I am a long time NCCC member from Tiretown Corvette Club in Akron,Ohio. In group IIG you can run your 10" in front and 11.5" in rear using 315-35-17 on all four corners. Or you can run 10's all the way around or 11.5 all the way around too. This will give you a great set up for NCCC High and low speed events. Heck, you can even run 335's in the back too if you like.
You can try Kumho V710's or Hoosiers A's or R's. They are both great tires, but if you are on a budget the Kumho's are alot cheaper and seem to get alot more heat cycles than the others we have tested. Check WWW.TireRack.com for pricing and availability.
This is my OPINION only.

Big fan of Kumho V710's here!

I run 17x12 wheels on all corners of my 92 than I compete with in NCCC Group IIG.
I use nothing but Kumho 710's.
Hoosier A's are fast for about (1) weekend & then they drop-off dramaticially. I can't afford to pay more for a tire that only has (1) great weekend of performance.

did kumhos on my c4, hoosiers on my c5, and just switched back to kumhos this weekend. would have been the fastest fendered car there if it werent for one little cone. so a big vote for the 710s here.

Hoosier A6's would work very well. They are as fast or faster than the 710's, and come in more sizes (275, 295, 315, 335 for the 17" sizes). The Hoosier 295/17 is shorter than the 710, which will help you lower the car more.
Tread and compound life now are the best I have seen in many years.

Thanks guys for all the imput on the autocross tires - I have just located two (2) barely used Kumho 710's in a 315/35 X 17 size and bought them so I 50% there. I'll mount these on the 11.5 5-spoke Corvette OEM wheels from a 1999 with Z51 package but the front tires will have to be smaller as I only 9.5" wheels for the front.
