Default GT3 Cup vs ALMS GT2 vs Grand Am GT

Referring mainly to 996 P cars, what are the major differences between these 3 series? A friend and I were milling over this at MO last weekend as to if ALMS GT2 and Grand Am GT cars were similar enough to compete in both, and if GT3 cup would be more/less fun.

Discuss.

The GT3 Cup car is what the Grand-Am GT cars are based on. There are minor differences, but the biggest is that GT3 Cup uses Michelin tires and Grand-Am uses Hoosiers.
The ALMS spec GT3 RSR is much different. It has close to 100hp more, bigger and better brakes, better suspension, better aero package, and larger wheels and tires.
Until about 2004 I think, the cars were close enough in specs that you could race the same car in ALMS and Grand-Am with minor changes.

about $100,000 difference

Cup and Grand AM use standard Porsche Electronics. the RSR uses aftermaket electronics and computers.
