...lost my license, now I don't drive.

That's an expensive car for a "small, private team." I wish I could make my own real-life redline . It was cool that the privateer Aston showed up for a couple events early in the season. Not cool that they were lapped couple times in a 2hr race.

For once I'm actually hoping ALMS makes up more on-the-spot bogus rules so others won't be scared off by the Corvettes. First year in a long time that I either don't watch or only watch for GT2.

Maybe restrict the C6R's to 302ci? 4000rpm? 3spd? 2 wheels?

I'v got my tickets and heading for Elkhart lake on Thursday, it's going to be great. It's interesting that GT2 has, I think, 11 entries. GT1 has 3 and the prototypes about a half dozen each. GT2 seems to be the rising star is ALMS.

That class is meant for privateers as is P2.

Thought this was announced back in July

The MC12 has always been fast. Just not reliable. Just like the Saleen.

The car is one Lienhard purchased from Risi Competizione but not the one that competed in the Series during the 2005 season. The rear wing is narrower than in that configuration with the width stretching to and from the outside edges of the back wheels. The wing does have a shallower profile to reduce some of the downforce and increase speed.

ALMS was a great race.

But despite having competition for this race, there wasn't too much Corvette coverage.
Except for the fact that they are running air conditioning

Frankly, the coverage stunk for everything.

I think ALMS should give the coverage to Speed for all of their races. It might actually be broadcast live and have people covering the race you want to listen to.

This race seemed like a Porsche/Penske commercial. He must own part of NBC, I think.

One of the drivers of the # 27 Maserati, Didier Theys, has said Porsche should be in the LMP1 class, not the LMP2 class for privateers.

He won the 1998 24 Hours of Daytona, 12 Hours of Sebring, and the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen with Doran Racing. They are the only team to have ever done that in the same year.

Very mediocre coverage.

Being a frequent NASCAR viewer, I was already familiar w/ Bill Weber and Wally Dallenbach (Weber is too verbose; Wally is good though). However, I was surprised at how little they added in their commentary. Usually they would simply make a comment on what was obviously happening on the screen. "The #73 car has spun." And then provide no add'l info. At one point, they mentioned how the #22 Panoz, sitting on pit road w/ the hood up, was having a horrible day, but did not elaborate, and it wasn't mentioned at any other time in the coverage. And of course, there was _maybe_ 5 minutes of GT1 coverage, even though they admitted that the Corvettes had a very loyal following (which they were stiffing by not showing any of GT1!).

Not to mention, a 4-hr race shortened to a 2-hr coverage block so we could hurry up and get to Pro Beach Volleyball? Come on! I'm really looking forward to SPEED picking back up so Greg Creamer, Leigh Diffey, Dorsey Schroeder, Brian Till, etc. can give us the good coverage we've come to expect, AND not shorten the damn races while running them the next day. Now, if Tracy Wolfson would just join the SPEED pit reporter crew.....

Fred

P.S. Speaking of...Jeff, where's my picture w/ her from Utah?!?!

Joey Hand actually led 2 laps in GT2 with his # 22 Panoz Esperante GTLM.

The MC12 will be back for Petit Le Mans and perhaps Laguna Seca.
