Default Driving Schoold with C6 Z06's?

Hello,

A good friend of mine is interested in possibly purchasing a 2008 C6 Z.

He'd first like to get to know the car, and I can't think of a better place than a driving school!

Does anyone have any recommendations? Northeast is preferred, if possible.

Thanks!

I can put your friend in my Z06 for a 2-day Car Guys school at VIR if he's interested. It will be costly, but if he's willing to be "nice" on my equipment, I guarantee he will learn VIR with some of the best guidance money can buy! I'd be his private coach, and take care of all aspects of the car (a new Z06 or Z51 are available)

Spring Mountain but the Z06 is extra. I was in the same predicament but I didn't want to pay the extra for the Z06 if he's got the bucks go for it (Z06). But if he's taught to drive a C-6 fast then the Z06 will be a piece of of cake.

Spring Mt!!! It is the best value I found, They dare you to beat on their cars and burn all the rubber off the tires. Lots of fun and great learning skills are taught.

However, David Farmer is a certified racer and am sure can provde a great experience too.

good luck

Personal attention with David Farmer, your friend should take that offer up. Non better instructor on the east coast. PLUS VIR Full, great combination

Thanks guys!

I'm on my way to work and am going to show him this thread.

I dont think he'll want to go all the way to Spring Mountain unless Mr. Farmer charges a ridiculous amount of money.

Oh, Mr. Farmer, you have a PM!

Just off topic a little. One of the reasons that helped me get into road racing was all of the friendly assistance here!

I also wanted to add that he's currently a Porsche guy.

I'm trying to convert him but he wants to see how the C6 Z feels on the track first!

The corvette may feel "slow" to your Porsche buddy, if he's done track events in his Porsches. Corvettes are so much easier to drive (IMHO) at the limit, that it can almost be numbing. I've done quite a few events in Porsches, and they work you hard. I am a "slow hands" driver, and feel that being smooth is the single most important skill to master, and it can be frustrating when you just into a 911 and you have to constantly "twitch" at the wheel to get maximum potential.

This is not to be critical of ANY car, just different. The shorter wheelbase, lower moment-of-inertia, and high rear weight simply make the 911 a very different car than the C5/C6 Vettes.
