How's Speed Ventures track days?
Thinking of doing the 3 day weekend Sept 28th at Buttonwillow. Price seems cheap but last time I went there with NCRC and it was a great event hope I wasn't spoiled by that????

The only NASA events I usually do are at Sears Point. I've been to the
SV 3 day weekend at BW for the last 4 years and had a blast. Biggest
issue is possible heat and the possibility that Sat. can sell out early, so
you have to make the call before you know the 2 week forecast. Not
sure I can make it this year as I want to run the time trial at TH with
NCRC that Friday.
Best thing about the SV weekend is that you get three different track
configs and both directions. Like a new track each day but your on
track reactions get better as you get more seat time and I've done
very well the last day each year. 25CCW is my all time favorite there
as you get to do the Riverside sweeper and exit on the long back
straight, higher speeds than I run any place else. That then puts you
at the brake zone for Cotton Corners and it is a hump, about 4 to 5 ft.
tall right before the turn in. Some are foolish and try to brake after the
hump and the rear lift usually sends a few cars out into the weeds. If
you get it right you brake late but use the hump rise to finish the
braking and get the car balanced before turn-in. Also, doing the esses
at BW in both directions just gets better and better.
Enjoy,
Randy

I run mostly with Speed Ventures and I think they have consistently the best events and provide the most time on the track. For what it is worth, if you are running in the faster run groups I think they have the best drivers on the track for an HPDE/track day. I have run almost all the different groups except a NASA HPDE. I really like their race simulated environment/open passing in their Red Group. It is not for everyone, but if you are up for open passing it is the best.....

It must be getting tougher to do long distance events since SV used
to run a good schedule in Nor. Calif. as well and we don't see them now
except for a few dates at LS. They were one of the first groups I went
and watched and then ran with at Sears Point. Always enjoy their
events and wish they would make it just a little further north as well.
BTW, they are running Oct 2 at LS.

I was talking with Aaron of SV and he told me they don't run up north anymore, except for Laguna Seca, because they have had some serious money losing events at Infineon and elsewhere. Plus they have not been able to get the good dates from the tracks.
SV pulls a ton of people from SoCal to their events and only a few to the tracks further north of Buttonwillow, LS notwithstanding. I bet if you guys up north could muster a stronger SV following up there like we have down south, you will be getting one or two events a month from them like we do.
Aaron would like to expand the operation to more tracks up north from what I understand, but he just can't afford to lose $10-20k per event.
Personally I still want to try T-Hill and Reno-Fernley.
Fastest regards,
Oli

thanks everyone!
I guess I'm in! I've only done Buttonwillow and Laguna Seca and really want to go back and it's the best weekend for me. I must of been going way too slow because I was breaking late over that hump! LOL
Anyway i'm dying to get back out there so thanks!

Well, Oli, if you ever want to run TH for fun the Oct 26, HOD all Corvette
event and the Oct 27/28 NCRC/ARC are looking to be lots of fun. Joe
and Allan are going to run the weekend and stop by on Fri for a ride, I
think. I will run the all Vette event just to support and then run the TT
with NCRC on Sat.
Wish I could make the BW event, first time I'll miss that one in 4 years.
Now Ed just needs to get some of those baffle stacks for each pipe and
he will pass sound with SV at LS and have a great day.

I'll be at Thunderhill with www.team-racing.org September 14th, and November 16th, and potentially December 7th...

I'm going to sign up for BW all three days that weekend, I think. I wouldn't miss it for anything.
I'm already signed up for the Hooked On Corvettes track day, also.

I'm trying to do Sat and Sun but will get in Friday night. Buying some
Z06 sways and shocks this weekend. I'm a little worried about my back tires (stock C6 runflats) so I'm looking for a good deal on them also. Anyway see you there should be with my cousin in his Orange c-6 also.

Bob, enjoy the BW weekend! Sorry to miss. Any chance you will make
the LS date with SV in Oct? Also, if you want to get another chance at
TH consider the following day with NCRC after the Hooked on Corvettes
day.

Allan and I are all set for the NCRC event. We should be at the Super 8 Thurs evening and visit the HOD event on Fri. I'm planning to run Fri-Sat only at BW.
