Default Carbotech pad usage question

I got my hands upon front and rear sets of both Panther Plus and XP8 pads.

I'm getting ready for an HPDE at Road America and was wondering what your thoughts are on how to use these pads. XP8's all around or XP8 front and Plus rear?

I've been using stock Z06 pads front and rear and wanted to try something new.

Road America is brutal on brakes. The stock OEM Z06 compound hands down will not last a full day there. Depending on your experience, panther plus will work at a novice level. XP8s is a more lasting compound than Xp10s/12s but may lack the bite if you are a seasoned driver.

I run XP10 in the front and XP8 in the rear which works well for me

I run xp10 on all four corners and love the performance of the pad. I certainly would not run nothing less than the xp8

I use the same.

Would not recommend that you use the plus with either the 8 or 10 as they will not be balanced braking front and rear. Use the 8's all around would be my recommendation

I've run Carbotech's for several years and tried the Panther Plus at Road America two years ago and it was just OK. THe Panther Plus just didn't offer enough stoppin gpower for the high speeds of Road America. The XP8/XP10 combo or XP10 all around choice is a better option.

I like more front braking force. I use the XP12F and XP10R combination. That gives a really good weight transfer on initial brake input. Having said that, if you are comfortable with a better front initial bite, use the 8s in F and Plus in back. If not, use the 8s all around.

And, you don't have to limit yourself to just that. Experiment a little...it's a DE event. Try the 8s all around and then the next session switch over to the Plus on the back and see what you think. It takes all of 15 minutes to swap both rear brakes.
