Default Who puts their cars up by the cradle?

I've jacked up the rear of the car with a block of wood and the rear cradle.

Anyone put their car up on stands with wood and the front/rear cradle for extended periods?

I need to start working on my bushing swap and my plan was to raise the car with 2 floor jacks, put a block of wood under the cradle with jack stands and let is sit down on them.

Will be like that for 2-4 days deppending on how things go. Same with the rear.

With a block of wood to deflect the weight I thought it would be OK.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

I have just had mine up using the front and back cradles for five days. I do not use wooden blocks as I don't trust the wood.

I would use heavier duty jack stands (even though the orange ones pictured are fine from a weight stand point) because they will allow you to get it higher off the ground and you won't have the instability the wood adds to the equation.

The wood was just to not put all the weight on a specific spot of the cradle.

Just checking, I'll be getting to it when I get home tonight.

I put jacks on the cradle right near the ends for a wider base and more stability I'll snap pic's and post later.

The purpose of the wood was to prevent damage to the cradle.

Those jack stands are rated at 3000 pounds a piece and we were only lifing the back end. So I would say they had less than 2000 pounds of force on them spread evenly. That's about 1/3 their rated capacity.

Only needed it that high for what we were doing.

I had mine on jack stands in the garage for over a week ...
28" 2x4 front (used the rearmost front xmember), 2x6 rear. Jack stands at outer ends of wood. Put 2x10 on floor under the jack stands rear and 2x10x10 blocks under jack stands front ... no issues

I believe that's the recommended way to do it. The jacks should be a little farther apart so that they are right where the bend in the bottom support is. On the front, the cradle used should be the second cross rail back from the front. FWIW

I use wood to span the 2 ribs of the cradel when jacking, but I put my jacks on each end of the cradel... I've been doing it for over 4 years and have had it up on stands for 3+ weeks at a time doing work on the car etc. No issues... the parts of the cradle I put the stands on are a little marred, but nothing to worry about at all.

I use the same principle but instead of wood I use the Adapter from Northern Tool So I can use the floor jack to get it up and then swap out the jack for stands:

Same method for the front. 2 adapters, 1 floor jack and 4 stands:

Those adapters are awesome, a for sure buy looks like.

DRM did a great job getting me the parts 4 days before they promised them to me. They were out of stock and told me Monday/Tuesday but showed up today along with the stuff from Hardbar.

Going to put it in the air tomorrow.

Thanks for the input.

Ah it doesn't seem that hard. We'll see Wednesday when the press shows up..

BTW you seem to have sent me a bonus package...I asked you about the rubber isolators on the springs and you said don't worry about them...well included in the package was a set of poly isolators but it says RR Corvette Spring...but there are 8 of them so do they replace front and back?

Trust me, nothing could be worse than doing the spherical joints on the RX7.
