Track Camera / Recorder
I want to set up a Racereye system. Instead of getting a dedicated recorder, I want to find a good/cheap DV camera with a video/audio inputs I can use as the recorder. This way I can take it out of the car and also use it as a regular camera. Any models out there out that people like?

Panasonic PV-GS320 3 CCD Mini DV Camcorder - approx. $370 It has video and audio input, can take pictures, is easy to download to your computer, and can connect to your TV or DVD-R so you can view and create DVDs, etc.

Sony mini CD in my car and a few others here shuts off in 30 seconds or less from vibration. Plus they only go 30 minutes. I went back to using my old tape Sony

Melting Slicks
I have a CANON Elura 60 DVC that I used to film direct from mounted on the roll bar but my wife bought me a ChaseCam lens last Christmas and it's slick. I'm still playing with the best places to mount it. I'm going to try the inside of the glass roof next time out.
Here's a short clip using it mounted inside the front windshield:

Where do you have you Mic mounted. All I'm getting is wind noise and very little engine note.

I haven't used it in the vette yet. I have a track event on October 10 so I guess I'll see. I used to tie wrap it high like on the rear view mirror. That video was shot in my TA. I suspect I will do the same and see. Too far back in the car and you do get wind noise from the open windows.
