Red is really tuff stuff, it usually has to be heated to break it loose. I would not use red on anything I might want to remove again. I always use blue. JD

JD is right. Red IS tuff stuff. I use it on connections that I seldom remove, and then, never on a bolt smaller than 1/4". I have seen bolts that small twist off rather than release. Understand that it will take considerable extra muscle to remove a bolt/nut with it on unless you heat it. I use blue on bolts/nuts that I remove more often or on smaller diameter connections. The purpose of either is to keep the connection from loosening due to vibration. Both work fine but have their intended applications. Both are subject to break down with heat, so don't count on them around parts that get over 300 degrees. Safety wire is a better bet in those applications but a bigger pain to get it right.

I use it on brake caliper bolts(not the pins) and have never had a problem. It would help if you told us what you plan on using it on. As Wally said it is not meant for everything, blue is more universal. JD

and mostly mounting hardware. Nothing smaller the maybe 3/8" dia stuff.

Then I would suggest Red. Keep in mind that the threads have to be absolutely, posatively free of any oil, grease, never seize etc. before your Locktite will do the job. I clean all the threads with CRC electrical contact cleaner first. You can also get a Locktite primer which does the same thing for more money. You shouldn't have to re-torque with either product.
