We have seen MULTIPLE failures of the Michelin customer tire over the last 2 years (more than 10). Mostly Cup tires. It's ONE of the reasons we run Dunlop.
Flaming - I've not pushed them yet. The first event, I wrecked, the second, one of the S8D's came apart, the third event, the second S8D came apart. The forth event was trouble free; however, I had two students and never even made a single run w/o a passenger. My next event is an instructor clinic so probably no pushing there either. They do feel far stickier than the Hoosier R6's I normally run.
Not much help here.

Daniel was telling me that the new Michelin Racing Slicks were providing much higher heat cycles that the S8 and S9 versions; up to 45, but he also said that he had not received confirmation on this from others.

Jim[/QUOTE]

45 heat cycles? What does he consider a heat cycle? If you equate one session as heat cycle and the average session to be 15 minutes that would mean the tire has over 11 hrs of use not counting the miles put on the tire.

When the tires get to full operating temp, then cool back down.
I just had a customer that runs NASA TT events turn in some data. He ended up with 46 fifteen minute sessions/heat cycles, and almost 1200 track miles. The performance was consistent through the first 35 sessions, and performance started to drop sharply after 40.

Here is some more info

For maximum grip and handling, Bowmanized is proud to to announce the Michelin Pilot Racing Slick is available for track domination. These come in multiple compounds so we'll have to discuss the track and ambient air temps you're expecting.. Full Soft and Medium Soft are available. Generally the full soft best when AMBIENT air temps are 70 or under. Medium Soft is for 70-90 degrees fahrenheit. Available in sizes that are made for 18x11 and 18x13.

Please contact me if you're interested or have any questions.

  4. Excellent front/rear handling balance
  5. Quick turn-in and high levels of steady-state cornering
  6. Consistent quality found in every Michelin tire

  7. Features:

  9. Precise sizing and tire profile developed through professional racing series applications

Hey Mike,

I am interested for a full set for my 2014 C7 Z51 with 3 LT

Would love to get black wheels and the slicks for VIR, Watkins Glen and Summitt Point HPDE.

Also I would like to keep stock sizes so I do not monkey with the car electronics

How do the three compounds compare to Hoosier R6.
I am thinking about going to a non DOT race slick with more grip than the R6 but I would like to be able to get at least 3 two day events from them. I am using 345/35/18 on 13" wheels rear & 315/30/18 on 11" wheels front

i would check with finspeed on getting a custom set of rims rather then changing tires on factory rims all the time alot easier. i believe they have some michelin slicks in a set of 18 inch rims that would work all the way around.
