Default 08 C6 w/o Z-51, what mods needed

What improvements would be helpful, or necessary, for HPDE or AutoX use, that don't come on base model?

z06 springs/shocks/bars would be nice, power steering cooler.....other coolers as necessary.

list can be endless. Depends on your experience and how hard you want to run it. Above is a good start.

absolutely; I did pads and brake fluid. Drive the snot out of it and if something shows up deal with it. Learn the car "seat time". Why is it so addictive?

I guess my real question is: If you found a good deal on a non Z-51 car would you pass it up for a Z-51 car or make some changes? What changes will make the biggest improvement, sways, springs, or shocks. Seat time is a no-brainer, I just want to get the most enjoyment out of my seat time with a confidence inspiring car.

sways and shocks I would do first then springs or coil-overs all dependent on money you want to spend and if you do the labor yourself. I would look for a car already done it is cheaper.

Best bang for your buck would be Z51 sway bars, Z06 shocks, some better brake pads, and an oil cooler. All of those are reasonably cheap and will go a long way.

I just keep hearing (and feeling) that the base C6 AND Z51 cars are too soft for the speed potential. If you find a good deal however, I certainly wouldn't get hung up on getting a non-Z51 car.

If both are too soft, then it doesn't matter which he buys - he would need to do the same upgrades to both.

that's what I said in my first post (upgrade to Z06 springs)......the only problem is that the Z51 gives you trans and steering coolers, which are nice to have

I have the same car you are looking at and I have a lot of track time in other cars. I just tracked the 08 m6 z51 npp for the first few times at homestead. Observation. 1. Oem brakes pads can not cut track time.
2. Suspension is fine unless your are racing. 3. Stopping power is fine see 1. moutal a must for brakes clutch see item 1, 4. In hot temp events the oil gets too hot, ( z51 has smaller cooler than z06), oil temps 268 + not happy with this, ( need bigger cooler). 4. Substitute R888 for GY RF f1 are fair when hot. 5. Car needs better seat bolsters, or 6 pts harness. 6. I installed H n t pedal for gas but that is a personal pref. 7. complete brake duct function to front rotors. ( the z51) rotors are cheap enough, and might last if kept cool. O- the car can be lower for free, turn the bolts.
