Anyone tried the PFADT C5 Track Ready Oil Cooler?
I just finished installing an LS3 in my ZO6 after number 7 piston exploded at CMP this May. I will be adding an oil cooler and I saw this one from PFADT. A little pricey but I would like to get some feedback on what would be the best for my 2002 ZO6 and has anyone tried this one from PFADT. thanks

oil cooler
I have one in my race car. I have close to the same setup as you have.
Am very happy with it.
This last weekend at Miller ambient was 100 deg and track was 130 deg.
My oil temp was approx 240 deg. at end of session.
Don't forget an Accusump.

Pfadt Cooler
Radiator - DeWitt model A97M
I seem to run cooler temps with the external cooler with a full size radiator. When I ran a combination oil cooler/radiator my oil temps were around 265 deg under similar conditions.
The Accusump setup is a Canton 3 qt. with electric valve set at 25 lbs pressure for activation. I wired this to a switch which is connected to ignition. This makes up for driver error of forgetting to turn on switch.

J.R. you have the PFADT oil cooler and DeWitts radiator with EOC? I would think you would need one vs. both. I am running the stock radiator with my ZO6. thanks for your feedback

Reason i asked is because a good radiator, either dewitts or if you want the big badboy ron davis has a built in oil cooler. All you need to do then is run lines to the radiator. However I would recommend installing a boost pump as well. That would lower your coolant temperatures as well, and also give you another cooling core for something else.

I would start with EOC and see what your water temp and oil temp's do. Then make a decision on radiator. Don't forget 160 or 170 deg thermostat and resetting on/off fan switches.
I have tried the Ron Davis combined (which I have in my street car) but I saw greater temps with the combined which is why I went with the EOC in the race car.
I can't re emphasize the Accusump. You can just search the forum for posts of members who have lost LS style engines on courses with long sweepers that did not have an accusump setup. You can probably assist the existing oiling system but that would involve modifying pan return, chamfering head oil return holes, drilling lifter trays and possibly using Smith restrictor pushrods. I would probably do this anyway if I was building an engine from scratch but mine is just a crate engine.

J.R. Good advice and I am going to purchase the Accusump setup along with an EOC. My water temps have been good since I changed the thermostat and programed the fans to come on early. thanks again!

Have you thought about one of the LG Super Cool Radiators?
It has a built in oil cooler, and with our supplied line kit, comes with every item needed to plumb in the oil kit.
We typically see 20-30 degree reduction in water temperatures, and 20-25 degree drop in oil temp.
These same radiators were used in the World Challenge cars, including Leighton Reese's cars.
