Watkins Glen surface damage?
I had an Audi event in three weeks canceled due to track damage from a 6 hour race. Anyone know what happened to the track that it will take a couple of weeks to repair?

Several portions of Watkins were repaved last year. It is probably an improper preparation job on the paving, causing it to disintegrate in the high G areas of the turns. The same thing is happening at Summit Point. Several of the turns have the paving coming up in chunks due to crappy low dollar preparation by the paving company. They had several concrete areas in turns and the pavers just black topped over them. It will not stick to concrete for long !!!

The word we got was there was damage in the esses(most likely from low ground clearance??) and repairs have to be done before NASCAR and IRL get there. When were they scheduled to be there anyway??

Watkins Glen
The IRL is at Watkins on 7/6 and NASCAR is at Watkins on 8/12. I have plans to be running there on 7/9 and 7/10. Any info would be appreciated. I am assuming everything would be good to go with IRL there this weekend.

Yep. I was going to be running at TrackMasters mid-month and it was cancelled. All events 7/14-7/24 are. I am still going down 7/9-10 as well with BMW.
Can't be too bad if IRL is there this weekend with their speed. The esses would not be my favorite area to have a grip problem

If IRL and NASCAR are running, then it must be in the Boot area. I would guess the down hill left hander which I think is turn 6. That had some new paving.
