Default Hoosier R6 or BFG R1's

I noticed tire rack is stocking the BFG R1's again. I've gone through a couple sets of these in the past ( 1998-2000 inmy 4th gen F-body) but wasn't sure if its a new compound or if anyone has used them yet?

I wasleaning towards R6's as it seems many C6Z owners who have tracked their cars liek this set -up in a 285 X18 front and 345X18 rear ( fits my soon to be CCW wheels)

too early to tell? anyone have input? thanks.

315 fronts are better! R6's wear out quicker but are a full second faster than R1's

wow!! is that a full second on a 1 minute course?

Is the compound for the BFG's the same that it was over 9 years ago?

My father just ran new BFG KD's on his 99 FRC at the NCCC convention but he had a chance to drive some new michelans <sp?> as a demo and said he wished he would have bought the new 'M" tire instead.

The Hoosier R's are the best, unless you want to go with a full race slick.

The new BFGs are nothing like the old assymetric sidewalled R1s from what I've been told. I've been hard pressed to find much positive said about the new BFGs...

I actually do have full race slicks ( goodyear) that came with my CCW wheels I purchased froma fellow forum member. They only have a photo track day of use on them...maybe I'll just use those at RA in August. I an always bolt on the the runcraps if I don't like them.

good to know. I had not heard much "buzz" on them and most drivers like the R6's from what I've read. maybe I'll buy a new set at the beginning of next season.

my friend just ran R-1 and said the were very hard and last long with little wear. They are not as grippy as a Hoosier.
