Default What Nasa Class Do I Fit Into????

The online calculator is down and wanted to know where I would fit into. I know I can run the T1 car in ST2, but what class for the TT events. TTS or what?

Car would be run in true T1 trim cause I don't want to change parts back and forth as of right now.

2003 Corvette Z06
Balance/blue printed LS6 (377 RWHP) Dyno sheet current 6-2008
Stock manifolds minus cats and mufflers
Car weight is 3,388 with me and 1/2 tank of gas. (180 lb driver)
Stock brakes of course with Hawk pads
Moton Triple Adjustable shocks
Stock control arms and rubber bushings. (Polys not legal in T1)
T1 bars front and rear
CCW wheels fronts 17X10 Rears 17X11 (All with 315-35-17 V710 tires)

Any help would be helpful. I think I might start playing around there and if I get hooked, I may just transform the T1 car into something more potent.

TTS

The rules are you can run DOT tires and be 8.7 hp to wt ratio.

Keeping your 377RWHP you could stand to lose some weight. (3280)

You are close enough that with fresh tires you can shake it down.

Heck, in TTS, you can run anything you like, so long as you don't break the magic 8.7:1 weight to HP ratio, as far as I know. TTU is 5.5:1. Your brakes will likely be the limiting factor, as there are better stoppers out there than the stock setup. Please come out and run! TT is a blast.

Come on in Aaron - you'll love it! My favorite thing sabout my NASA experience (so far) have been:

1) The people. These guys/gals have a lot of fun, and the atmosphere at least here in the SE seems much more geared towards having a good time than most of the SCCA events I go to.
2) Field size. We got to run against 9 other ST2 cars at Atlanta - VERY unusual to have a T1 field that size these days!

I pull out my passenger seat when I run NASA to save a few pounds - sounds like you've got room to do the same. The only other mods from T1 are you have to have a kill switch, and you have to have either a full-containment seat (the option I chose) or a right-side net.

You know, Hotlanta is lovely in August - and not that far a haul for you... I'm with spazegun too - you oughta be racin buddy!!

Thanks for the input guys! Does anyone have the specs/place to buy the center net, cause I really love my Sparco seat and don't want to change that. I think Farmer or Jody posted a picture of theirs awhile ago. Pull the center vent out for the front and strap to roll bar for the rear right?

Kill switch really? what are you guys doing for location and do you have any pictures.

As far as racing, I was actually going to pull double shifts and do both TT and ST2 in one day if I am allowed to.

Mikah, I hear ya buddy on the low turn out at SCCA events. I don't really care to race against myself all the time and a 9 car NASA field sounds way better.

Thanks for any info/pictures you guys may have.

Hey Aaron, Welcome to NASA!

Here are the pix of the center net install:

Here's where David installed my Master Cutoff switch:

Here's a link to Safety Solutions for the right side net:

See you out there!

Wow your fast Jody! Thanks for the quick reply, I'll get that net ordered.

Where do you get that type of cut off switch, that is way better than the bulky drag switch Summit Racing has?

Thanks for the info,

Aaron

Except on track.:o

Check at Autozone or NAPA. It's just a 2 pole cutoff switch. The switch itself is behind that part of the dash. David drilled a hole for the stub of the switch to fit through.

Make sure that you tie the alternator into the cutoff switch, if not the engine will keep running when the switch is turned off. That's how they check it in tech, if they turn the switch off and the engine continues to run, they'll send you back.

Hopefully, David will check this thread and tell you how to do that, because I have no idea.

BTW, the center strap fits around the frame below the windshield if you don't have a cross bar as part of the cage.

Here is where I put mine. I got a 3-pole switch and tied it into the battery positive (of course) and the main ignition power from the Power Distribution Block in the passenger footwell. It works pretty well, but I can't reach it if I'm strapped in - no issues once I undo my latch though.

Thanks Jeff,
Hope to get down your way when I can.

Mikah,
Thanks for the pictures, sounds like I need to get busy doing that stuff.

Cheap way to get to know the NASA scene and learn tracks. Safety (contact is much less likely in TT). It's all a blast though. I've not had a bad NASA event.

Yes, I'd rather be in ST2 as well. I'll get there. Just a few months until the car's paid off. Then we get a cage and likely a new motor. Then comp school and off we go!
