That's where I get all my trailer/towing stuff... If it's good enough for tow truck companies, it's good enough for me!

Ratchet straps have a "Working Load Limit" or WLL of 1/3 the rated capacity. That means the 5,000 lb straps will safely hold just over 1600 lbs each.

Get the 10,000 lb straps; they will have a 3,300 lb WLL and they have the same hardware and the straps will be the same 2" wide. The cost of these straps are only a few dollars more than the 5K straps.

Looks like the link you show are the 10K straps

Ask for David

I got mine locally. He can custom make straps to any configuration as well. $80 for a set of four. These are 10,000lb straps that are 2" wide and 8' long with a flat snap hook on the strap and a twisty snap hook on the ratchet end. You can have David put the T-hook on the strap, but I would just buy them seperately if you don't already have them.

Here are a few pictures:

once you figure out the correct distance for the font, use chains, not straps. Straps in the back

One other tip I learned on straps is to Knot the free end, I watched a car roll off a trailer as the entire strap freewheeled thru and completely out of the ratchet....the car stopped when it hit a tree...ouch

Not trying to high jack your thread, but I just picked up an 04 Z06 and already have atrailer that I trailered the C4 on, do I need the "T" hooks to strap it down correctly? Didn't need anything for the C4, straps just went right into the factory tie down "hooks". The straps I have have this type of hook on them:

^ Yes for the C5s you'll need 4 T-hooks that hook into the factory frame holes used at the factory to transport it around.

I am using these straps. http://www.uscargocontrol.com/2x12au...oks-p-240.html

2" X12' Auto Tie Down W/ Flat Snap Hooks, B.S. - 6,600 Lbs, W.L.L. - 2,200 Lbs
For a special order, they will do a twist on one end and a flat on the other.

If you use chains and the car it not perfectly straight one chain will not be as tight as the other.

That is correct. I use chains that are fastened to the rear of the trailer and I just drive up over them fasten the T Hooks into the frame slots and use ratchet straps to pull the car forward. The WLL for the chains is in the 3+K lb range so just one of them is enough to hold the car from going forward in a less severe crash. In a really bad one I imagine the bolts that hold the chain mounts on the trailer would break and allow the car to fly over or crash into the back of the truck. Most of the time both chains are pulled tight but if I get the car on a little crooked or not exactly centered one chain will be a little loose.

You can get them at Mid Atlantic trailer next door to us. They always have them in stock thank goodness because we have lost our fair share of them. Anyways I don't use the T-Hooks, I tie directly to the control arm and this way the car will not move at all, the t-hooks work just as well and will load the suspension which is not going a long way is fine, I just choose the other way. Use 10,000lbs straps and use two on each end. I cross mine in the rear. Look up Scott Hudson, he will show you his rig and he will show you how to tie them down. Make sure you put the car in gear, you will not hurt anything.
