Default ZR1 video at Nurburgring

http://youtube.com/watch?v=k6mEirkQN8o&fmt=18

in case you missed it.....It is supposed to be completely stock although they definitely have a "man switch" installed (or pulled the fuse like any normal person would)

Figured this group would appreciate it more than the guys who are actually buying them.

Take that GT-R fanboys. And the Z06 fanboys that havent given the ZR-1 it's due props. It's legitimately much faster than the Z06 on alll accounts.

BTW that Mero guy can drive his butt off. But he missed a few apexs and got it sideways. There are a few seconds left in that car.

Screw that overweight/underpowered/butt ugly GTR - how many lies came out of the Nissan camp about that car and then C&D gets the car with its low performance numbers and says it is king of the crop based on biased points....

I just hope this ZR1 is not the last of the Vette

Thanks for posting David!

Love the 7:28 mark in the vid where Mero scrubs off speed from 179. I'd still love to see this thing run on real tires. It would be so nice to take advantage of those brakes.

A few weeks ago on Jalopnik, the rumor was the car was headed into a nasty headwind on the straight.

Anyone know who this Mero guy is? It amazed me what kind of torque that thing had. He made a few short shifts and the ZR1 pulled insanely.

Nice piece for sure.

OKAY,

Please everyone try this so you see that it's for real. I think we all know the GT-R is a pig on the top end, falls off badly after the 1/4 mile and we've seen tests where it just gets annihilated by everything from the Porsche Turbo to Z06 to GT2. And the ZR-1 is faster than all of the above.

Open two windows and play the vids simultaneously, it make take a few tries, but try to get it as close as possible. Watch through the vid and when it gets to the back straight time the gap between the ZR-1 and the GT-R from the sign at the beginning of the back straight to the sign at the end of the back straight. Or if you want put the videos so that they are even going into the back straight. The GT-R is DEAD EVEN WITH THE ZR-1!!!!!!!!!

The ZR-1 makes up approximately .4 sec on a straight that long. I'm sorry, but that is garbage, the ZR-1 will leave the GT-R by a mile on a long straight. That GT-R is doctored, I havent said that until now, but this is PROOF IMO.

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/..._test/(page)/1

Z06 2:01.7 @79.9 MPH
Viper ACR 1:55.7 @84.0 MPH
GTR 2:01.1 @80.3 MPH
GT2 1:59.7 @81.2 MPH

Z06 : 0-60 3.8, 1/4 11.9 @124
Viper : 0-60 3.4, 1/4 11.8 @126
GT2 : 0-60 3.7, 1/4 11.8 @121
GTR 01-60 4.1 1/4 12.6@111MPH.

Overall

GTR 203
GT2 194pts.
Viper ACR 185
Z06 177 pts.

so you tell me this GTR beats all of these cars, but loses to a M3 - dont all of these cars beat a m3

this whole GTR vs ZR1 thing is either.....annoying...or funny! Both will be bought by speculators or fanboys, and I don't think it really matters which is faster, or if either one of them is fast at all.

I'd never buy a GTR, and I'm sure lots of import fans would never buy a ZR1....no matter how fast/slow/expensive/cheap either of them might be.

These Nurburgring videos thrill and scare me...I'd love to have a week or so to learn the track, but watching a random video really makes the track seem impossible and dangerous. There an old Hans Stuck video around somewhere, and that one scares the pants off of me. Being a street car, the ZR1 video is a bit tame by comparison, but the shear speed, narrow width, and lack of runoff are very intimidating....and I'm not easily intimidated....

Amen brother. He is flat out rolling for a street car. If something goes bad, it will be REAL bad. Having said that, I'd probably still do it. I'd want that week you were talking about though...

I know the video Farmer is talking about, and it's insane. Makes me wonder how many cars Stuck has written off at the ring!

What a video though, the ZR1 is obviously being limited significantly by the tires. I can only imagine what that thing would do with a decent R-comp tire! Kudos to all parties involved with the ZR1!

Great car and impressive driving. This track makes Watkins Glen look like VIR - can they get the Armco any closer to the track??? WoW!

Here's the Hans Stuck video.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=RkcXW01bP70

I don't remember there being a voice over on the original video. Hans is the man.

Apparently there's a part 2:

The ZR1 vid is just great ...quite a drive.
