Default Stupid Koni Question

Question, which way stiffens Koni Yellows on a C5 z06?

The Koni website reads that Left to Right increases rebound, but the diagrams show the shocks in the normal (non-inverted) position. http://www.koni-na.com/3013.cfm

Is it safe to assume that because the shocks are inverted on the Z06 that the adjustment is actually right to left to increase the rebound?

I emailed Koni this question and haven't received a response, go figure.

Thanks for any help

Think of it as a taper'd needle that is being screwed into a hole to change the amount of fluid that can be squeezed by. Tightenning it will make the space smaller (increasing rebound force), loosening will make the space bigger (decreasing rebound). No matter how the shock is positioned the effect is the same, tightening increases rebound, loosening decreases it.

Good luck.

If you put it full one way or the other it'll be obvious if you're stiff or soft. Full soft means full-throttle will lift the front easy, and brakes will stand you on your nose like a stock Mustang...

The 3013Sports I had (inverted) were left soft, right hard, just as you'd expect.

Right to left stiffens. There are "+" and "-" symbols on it.

Feel free to turn them the other way if you like though.

Er, thanks. Doh. I was going from memory which is apparently faulty. Much prefer my Penske 8100s! KONIs were junk IMO.

Ah ha! I remember. I lay on my back and slide under the car for the rear. No excuse for the front unless I stuck my head in so I was upside down.

Thanks David, the only +/- symbols on mine are the Sharpie marks I put on it when I put them on. I just wanted to confirm I marked them correctly though, as I didn't have any other way to know. Luckily I did!

Thanks

That's just weird that some have them and some don't. I have a very early set of them, you'd think if anything it would be the other way around (mine not having the marks). Good luck in Milwaukee. See you at HPT.

Good pic & I agree. I got 3 with +/- markings and 1 without, go figure.

Sweeps towards the plus stiffen the shock of course.

Speaking of Konis, has anyone had any luck with Koni fixing the rubber bushing on the lower mount of the front shock. (I don't know the exact name for the bushing.) After about 2,500 street miles and six or eight autocrosses, one of mine is already starting to tear!

I searched and saw other threads where Koni said tough luck...
