Default I talked to Dick Guldstrand today.

I talked to Dick Guldstrand today.

I'm calling places looking for forged billet subaxles and stronger halfshafts. Then I remembered Tom's Differential's stuff for C3's being wrote up and that their running 7's with and IRS.

Guldstrand Motorsports makes a 5 link suspension for the C3, so I'm thinking maybe I can just run the uprights for their C3 5 link in my C4.

I get Guldstrand Motorsports on the phone, after all their the guys who GM ripped off for the C4's design in the 1st place! I found out after I said that everyone else in the shop was out having lunch and I was talking to Dick Guldstrand himself!

Nice guy, we talked about high HP applications for C4's and those troublesome bearings. He said he just got a set of the tapered bearings in, and said yeah, I'm the guy on the forum that got that started.

He's going to look into seeing if we can run those uprights, if that's the case, I'll have a bulletproof rear suspension, that also handles a lot better!

He is a great guy and I am honored to have even met him. He is only one small notch away from Mr. Duntov in Corvette Racing history.

I've had Dick personally work on my car before.

Imagine some 29 year old guy watching-on as a 80 year old busts his knuckles on your car!

I felt bad, but he was having fun doing the work.

Dick drove a '67 Camaro in the Trans-Am group at the '06 Historics, IIRC he started near the back of the pack and gained 2-3 positions during the race.

Dick is one of the best story tellers around, especially when he talks about tutoring NASCAR drivers about racing at Riverside.

Guldstrand built my friends black GS 80 that was used in several of the magazine articles. One year Dick invited him to bring the car to the Palm Spring historic races. Dick told my friend that he could sit with him at the dinner they held, and when my friend when to sit down he also found out that Mr. Duntov was also at the table. My friend said he had a hard time even talking or eating with both of those two legends at the table.

A couple of years ago Guldstrand was the speaker at the Corvettes at Lake Tahoe. I got to speak with him a little and listened to two of his talks. He has such great stories that even the people who are not interested in racing were listening to every word. Talking to him made the whole weekend something to remember, since I am old enough to remember watching him race.

Mr. G is most certainly a nice guy. Back in the day he helped me get my C3 sorted out somewhat, and when I called recently to inquire about a couple of discontinued bits it was Dick himself who went scrounging thru the old "junk".

Be sure to post up when you find out if this works out for you.
