Default More PFC rotor goodness.

So after the recent rockauto price hike on stock rotors, I thought maybe it was time to consult with brakeswap.com

These are the PFC Direct Drive rotors, true 2 piece FLOATING rotors. Theyre not like a lot of the other ones that I've seen that are just a hat bolted to a ring. Some of my BMW buddies have been running these things for a while, and have been getting 3x the life of stockers. With the current price of rockauto rotors, these will be nearly equivalent if they last 3-4 times longer than a stocker.

I'm running them this weekend at summit, and should be running the car a couple more times before the end of the year, so I'll keep updating this thread with pictures of wear and # of heat cycles put into them.

Plus I'm hoping the floating nature of the rotor will help with pad taper and knockback. And, theres no denying that these rotors are PRETTY!

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Sounds good, are they lighter? Could I get the part numbers please? And the website to order.

It looks like Eric hooked you up Wally! I've decided to keep my C4 and your BBKsetup is what I want for Christmas.

Keep us updated....

Wally,

Is there any chance there are DirectDrive rotors that fit stock C5/C6 calipers?

Do you think there would be a problem running floating rotors with 'floating' calipers?

these are stock c5 sizes. I have the LG kit that allows the wilwood caliper with stock sized rotors.

i cant see why a stock caliper and a floating rotor would be a bad thing. Its floating in the sense that at high forces it will have more room to give than other rotors, but its not flopping in the breeze.

The website references in the first post says $736 for the hats+rotors and $430 for replacement friction rings (does the hardware need replacing, too?) ... prices from memory. I recall HardbarUSA testing floating and regular against one another and not seeing any appreciable difference?

What size spacer are you running with the CCW wheels to fit over the Wilwood caliper? What size are the wheels? How far do your front wheels stick out past the fenders?

I plan on documenting the wear on these things rather closely. Snap a couple pics for each heat cycle, and see how many I can get.

3/8" spacer, the wheels are T1 sizes (17x10 and 17x11).

this shows how far they stick out better than I can describe it. Its probably 1/2 an inch or so.

Thanks for the info Wally. Looking forward to the posts about your results.

They look really promising, but at $736 for the fronts to get started, they better work out well for you...

Is it a hub centric spacer that supports the center of the wheel? Or are the wheel studs supporting the weight of the car?

Bill

its a standard spacer, it is called hubcentric, but there is no little flange for the wheel to rest on. I'm running ARP studs.

i've been running this way for a year with the same front hubs.
