Default Emra vs pda

As everyone else I'm looking for more seat time, I know it's the end of the year but having spent all my time with PDA as a rookie this year I wanted to get on the lime rock track before the end of the year and EMRA has an opening for Oct 25. How does EMRA differ from PDA, meaning HPDE's

Not familiar with EMRA, but you may want to check into SCDA... I did 2 runs with them this year at LRP and they ran a smooth program. I've also run with the BMW Ct valley club (even though I don't own a bimmer, you just have to join the club) and the Patroon BMW club also does a good job. Unfortunately I think the last SCDA run for the year is 10/31 for experienced drivers only (no instructor in car). www.scda1.com

I have been running with EMRA since the late 1990's. You will get plenty of track time. Then timed runs competing against others in your class. I highly recommend running with them.

As a rookie, all the clubs should be fine.
PDA is liberal and gets a big from me. EMRA too, but is geared more around timed events. BMW gets a rating.

Well, the one thing I'd disagree on is the BMW, from a novice standpoint they do a top notch class portion. They are more conservative on track, picky on point bys, etc but that's good especially for a novice driver. After a while, well, then we all get tired of that... not that I've ever been talked to about taking a few cars w/o point bys!

(plus it's a lot of fun as a novice in a bmw group, there isn't much you can't pass!)

Thats why my first statement was "as a rookie, all the clubs should be fine".

yes, I agree, I just didn't want him to be discouraged from trying the bmw club, they actually do the best class room sessions IMO. (and the $ isn't too bad either.)

From my experience BMW is the best as far as "school" goes. They are probably closer to Bondurant type school than say an EMRA. You WILL learn more with BMW than most "for profit" clubs. BMW in not for profit and are more concerned with safety and learning vs. just track time.

They are also mostly cheaper since they are not for profit.

Does anyone have a contact number for EMRA. I couldn't find a phone number on the website.
