Whats typical cost of tires/pads/consumables on HPDEs for someone just starting out?
I am looking at getting a picture of how much money it usually is running in HPDEs from pads to tires and other consumables(you might want to mention), per day in a typical NASA type event for someone who is just trying to start out?

Typical costs are variable depending on what type of tires/ pads, etc you are running.
You can look at these costs at a minimum based on stock items and running at a beginner level. Run faster/harder consumable cost goes up proportionally.
Gas 2/3 tank per day for 3 run sessions - more if 4 sessions
tires - stock F-1 or runflats -10% of tire per day if driving hard Figure $125
brake pads - 20-25% of pad set per day stock pads figure $75
rotors - 10-15% per day figure $25
brake fluid - if you do your own flush - $10
entry fee $300
gas to and from - ??
Hotels / meals ??
It gets to be pretty expensive. Racing costs $ how fast can you afford to go ?? The fastest way to make a big fortune into a small fortune os to go racing.

So here is what it cost me to do 4 days at VIR:
750 miles round trip from home to track, about $160
4 nites hotel, about $350
entry, $725
About $35 per day in gas $140
Wound up using the last of my front pads, probably should change the rears as well, about $350 (should last me 6 or 8 events)
having 6 days I didn't have to work, hanging with good friends for 4 days - PRICELESS!
I usually do 4 to 8 HPDE events per year. With good tracks now running $350 - $375 for two days, lesser tracks are still around $300. Figure a set of tires ($1400 for V710's), brake pads ($330ish), couple of litres of brake fluid ($30). rebuild kits for calipers (cheap $10), etc. I'm probably spending $4000 - $7000 per year, its worth it just to go that fast and not have to worry about John Law.

Four years ago I asked the same question and started my log book.
That was about $750 / event.
Now with fuel prices and other prices up, looking at close to $1000 / event
which JAA just mentioned

I run mine pretty inexpensively. I live near Road America so that saves a bundle! For me it's generally the track fee, about $75 in used track pads, then 30 gallons of gas per day. So for me, a typical club day $220, $100 in gas, $75 in pads, some tire wear. Or something like $385 for the weekend, double the gas, pads will probably last the two days, and more tire wear. The street tires last awhile though. You'll see a wide range in what people spend!

I am just making the jump from entry level pads and street tires to race type pads and at least used R-comp tires. I am finding that the costs go up pretty significantly when you make this change. I am still using the same street tires I started with 4 years ago. In contrast, I bought a set of used RA1's and burned through them in 3 sessions. I used Hawk HP+ pads for several years as well. I just burned through a set of Carbotech pads in 4 track days.
The point is, you need to determine what level you expect to run at. I had just as much fun when I was a beginner, and I had no need to use R-comp and race pads. After a while though, you will most likely get a little depressed about always being out-braked and out-cornered. This is when the costs climb rapidly. The next step is even higher. The used Hoosier's I bought ran $250 for a set. If you need a new set, you're probably at $1200-1400.
It doesn't really matter though, because it's addicting and you are going to do whatever it takes to get back on the track.

the consumable costs vary.
I did my first 10 events on my street tires, Mich PS. and I still have these tires for mild street use
Now I use Hoosier scrubs, and I get 3 weekends out of a set, if I am lucky.
Brake rotors, fronts 3 weekends, rears 5-6 weekends.
Brake pads, fronts 2 weekend rears 4-5 weekends

I think wear and tear on engines, trans, diff, risk of uninsured accident etc push these numbers a lot higher. If it's a leased car under warrantee, the numbers may be right.
I know you asked for consumables, but even engines are consumables. They have so many hours on the track per build .

A lot will depend on how hard you drive. If you are a typical beginner, you are going to use about 2/10's of the car's capability. Eventually you'll push the car more and more and start wearing brakes and tires. For me, a typical 2 day weekend is between $750-$1,000 because of the distance I have to drive. A lot of times it involves a hotel if the track doesn't allow camping. Far away tracks are cheaper but cost more in gas, close tracks are expensive but I don't need to drive as far.

I wish I could say Autocrossing is less expensive, but alas it's not much. Not when you want to be competitive. I'm burning about $175/day in tires alone. Entry fees, gas, trailer rental, ...
Ends up pretty close to $500/day.

A. What do you make?
B. Send it in
I do it for a lot less then a $1000 an event, honest (in case my wife ever sees this thread)

Yeah ... and as you get on the slippery slope you gotta make some decisions ...
extra set(s) of rims and tires
Alignments
tire trailer for the 'Vette or open trailer [and tow vehicle] or closed trailer and [bigger/stronger] tow vehicle
cooling add-ons
oiling add-ons
harness/roll bar & harnesses
seats
