Default Hardbar not Auto-X & Road Race sponsor????

Hey what happened to Hardbar? I thought Gary from Hardbar USA sponsored this section on CF. If I'm not mistaken Gary/Hardbar sponsored this for the last few years (8 ?) so what's the deal?
Gary provided many, many technical answers totally unrelated to his products or sale thereof. His engineering knowledge, mechanical knowledge, inventiveness, practical applications of simple solutions with hands-on knowledge were a welcome source of invaluable information to all Corvette hobbyists.
I for one have followed his many ideas and in fact use some of his products.
Kudos to you Gary for all you've done for all the folks here on CF.
Thanks, Joe

He's still a supporting vendor, but he used to be the sponsor for this section

Take a look at forums.corvetteforum.com and you see who sponsor each section.

ah, I see. Funnily enough, I'd never seen that page, since I just come directly to this forum.

Just checked the Index Page and it looks like the new sponsor is PFADT.

I've always wondered if being a supporting vendor even helped with sales. For me it really makes no difference. At least not if you have any race background. I suppose if you are trying to rake in new customers that have no knowledge about this stuff it might help. I have been using some of Gary's stuff for some time and I chose to do so simply because he had top quality parts that were what I needed. I make a lot of my own parts, but when someone already has something that ends up costing me less to purchase in both time and money I do so. Some of the products hardbar offers fit in that category for me. In addition he is very knowledgable about what he makes and that is always very important.

Doubt it. Whoever the forum sponsor is, would not sway me to purchase from them. The extra money to pay to sponsor a section probably was not worth it, and Gary may not have even known the subscription lapsed. But it's CF I can't explain anything they do.

I am sure that I am not alone when I say the corvette forum is the single best resource for me in my efforts to maintain my corvette. I hope that we will always encourage constructive discussion and input from all the members including the vendors and non-vendors. We need to ensure that the forum does not discourage those with an opinion from sharing it with the rest of us.

Gary is a tremendous resource and provides many products that are well designed and well made. I have known him for about 30 years and he is the ultimate engineer, always trying to understand how things work and then make them better. I do not always agree with his opinions, but I must say I always listen because he often has a slant on a topic that I did not consider.

Here's to the Corvette Forum

I just spoke to Gary and he had no idea that the CF was considering another sponsor. IMHO, that sucks, I would have figured that he would have had first right of refusal. I'm also not happy that the sponsor wasn't offered to MSI, LG Motorsports, Doug Rippie...

I always figured that once each year it would be offered to each of us, but that didn't happen.

Well I figure it is no hair off my a$$, as we get a reasonable vlaue out of being a supporting vendor, but I would have liked a shot at sponsoring this section.

Oh well, I guess we'll just need to go to the track and flush this from the memory bank.

There are plenty other sections to go sponsor. No need to get upset.

I'm more disapointed than anything else.

From my stand point, Road Race and Autocross is where most of "My People" hang out, where my passions reside and where my expertice can really be shared. Sure I could probably get sales from the waxers, I just don't happen to share any passion for that.
But that is totally missing my point.

As members of the forum, I think we have a reasonable expectation of understanding how vendors are treated - can we ask CF to detail how sponsors are chosen?

No dis to Pfadt or anyone else - but I'd certainly agree it should be an open process.
