Things I learned today at Road Atlanta....
1. The wet line.
2. Eeeeeeeasy with the pedals and hands.
3. A new and improved "pucker factor".:o
4. Don't set your cold tire pressure the night before in a 65* shop when it's going to be 37* at the track.
5. I need a bigger compressor (due to #4).
6. Painters tape will not stick to the car in the rain.
7. Duct tape will not stick to painters tape in the rain.
8. A fog proof face shield would be nice.
9. Race pads, worn street tires and water make an interesting cocktail.
10. If you show up at the track in your BMW with bad attitude and disregard your instructor's wishes, you are likely to crash it.
11. A bag of BBQ chips, Combo's and a large whachamacalit does not make for a healthy lunch.
12. Pulling a trailer in rainy post-Thanksgiving Sunday Atlanta traffic is not the greatest of ideas.
13. Most importantly - The value of good instructors.

I got my car from Commerce GA and I think it’s safe to say driving in any kind of Atlanta traffic isn't the greatest of ideas. I got stuck in construction traffic on the way to and Friday rush hour on the way out of town.

Yeah tell me about it. It's just retarded. I was 10x more nervous on the way home with all those lunatics on the road than I was at the track today.

Maybe next go around I can get the wife to fire up the grill and we can jet out during the lunch break and have some burgers waiting at the house for everybody. (I ran my morning warm up, went home, ate breakfast, ran again, went home at lunch to eat, did a few honey do chores. lol.)
Now if I could just afford a vacation home near every other good track on the east coast...
re: BMW (M3)...was this the one that got unsettled during braking for 10 (looked like, I didn't see it happen, just the aftermath) and punted the outside wall head on? that car was pretty much done

There is a decent bar-b-Q place up the road near 85.

I'm not sure which Bimmer the kid was driving, but I do know that his instructor earlier in the day did not want to certify him for solo. From what I understand he and his Dad made somewhat of a big deal out of it so they let him through since he had extensive prior experience. The instructor basically said he was not respecting the track and the conditions.
I'd like to hear more about this also. I heard the car was seriously damaged, but I have yet to hear what and where it happened.

Safety Car
He crashed at the top of the esses, driver side wall. RF and RR of car are smashed. If you are getting your car worked on there, make sure it doesn't come back with any bent parts on it!
Instructors got hosed for lunch, as they did a green before lunch and a green right after lunch, so you had to be back on time. I did not realize this on Sat, and was late, I sure got a talkin to

I've done a zillion days in Reese's group at the old Panoz Days, he drives pretty hard.

Trust me, she's used to it. When I lived in the NE and did my TT'ing, she used to crew for me before we were married, she knew what she was getting into
