Aftermarket steering wheels
I would like to see what everyone is running for aftermarket steering wheels. I've never been fond of the C5 interior, I've replaced the seats already and the wheel is next in line.
I have an idea of what I'm looking for... I want a D-shaped wheel that is 300mm or smaller diameter with a thick grip but would like to see as many pics as possible to makeup my mind.
TIA

Mike, is the plate on the front of your steering column part of a kit or did you have it fabricated? I assume mounting hardware may not be so make and model specific to provide that kind of trim piece.

At the time, I did not know what I was getting into,so I bought the kit from ATI.
It included:
* Carbon cover plate w/ screws
* Hub and desired length of extention between hub and steering wheel.
I spoke with several people in regards to the MOMO hub. A slight modification had to be done to make it fit correctly on the C5. Plug and and play was what I was looking for.

I bought a 13.8" dia dished OMP wheel (momo pattern) years ago off an F355 Challenge car (it's wicked light). Used it on my old track car, but have not yet got a mount for it for the C5. It's on my list, I purchased a 2" sparco/momo pattern extension for it (the C5 seat/pedal/shifter/steering wheel alignment has never suited me, I want the wheel closer but nothing else).
i was leaning towards the ATI adapter...

Was it good any problems installing?
ATI Performance Engineering was who I purchased kit from, but they appear to be no longer in business.

As far as I know, no, they don't have an updated web site.
Another option would be Pfadt's adapter for the C6:
http://www.pfadtracing.com/catalog/p...roducts_id/160
Then add somone's quick release (if desired) and steering wheel. Pfadt doesn't currently make one for the C5. I'm hoping they will sometime soon.

I have the ATI kit with a sparco wheel in mine. If ATI is no longer around you can still get the parts easily. The quick release is made by grant and then just search for a 3 bolt to 6 bolt adapter. What's nice about ATI is they make thier own adapter so it uses short bolts instead of long through bolts. They will make it in any length you want. I just got the standard one they offer, but I've since added a joes spacer. Had I known I wanted the wheel closer to me before the install I would have had them make a longer one.

I have this one but it is not installed yet.
Went with the D style wheel so my knees dont hit the bottom of the wheel

I would suggest that the suede would be better then leather wrapped. Leather tends to get slippery

Be careful of what you change to if you also drive the car on the street. In a state that has annual safety inspectilons, you could be in trouble. Virginia will fail the car for removal of mandated federal safety equipment ( airbag ) on aftermarket wheels. Either find a friendly inspector or be prepared to swap back before the inspection.
