You guys opting for the 4.11's?
Which really sucks the gas down in normal driving.
or just use the LOW 2wd position in a 4x4

(Gas engine) open trailer, 3.73's are fine on a 1/2 ton. Enclosed 4.10's make it a lot easier. The new GM 6 speeds on the 3/4 ton get decent mileage with the 4.10's still. One guy here at work gets 16 in mixed driving, 18-19 pure highway with the 6 liter, ext cab, long box.
I tow my open trailer with a tahoe, 5.3l 3.73's its ok. My work truck is a 3/4 ton with the 6 liter, 4.10's - it tows a lot better.

I would imagine the motor would have a lot to do with your gear selection. I have a 2008 Aspen with 3:55's, but it has over 350hp so even with 3:55 it pulls like a freight train. If you are low on HP, you need more gear to compensate.

your motor, trans, and General area of where you live along with Total weight are the major determining factors for gearing another to consider is this gona be tow rig only or will it see as much if not more off towing driving as to towing?
I have dodge diesel and Duramax the Dodge is 3.55 rear gears, and the duramax is 3.73's i have some so so grades around here and pull on average 20,000lbs on the heavy side most comonly am in the 15,000 and under. and i get by pretty well if i was in hiller areas the 4.10's may be nice but once you get rolling down the road it dosen't make much diffrent till you come to a steep hill. or need to pass someone on a 2 lane road.
