Default first track day after Dewitts C4 rad install - great

I did my first track day tonight after the install of a Dewitts rad in my c4. It is not the perfect track car as an LT1 with 100k but it works for now. The Dewitts lowered my temps from a high of 226 to 192. Kind of a pain to install, but well worth it. I didn't have to spend half my time looking at the temp gauge.

That is good to hear - real world results. I am seriously thinking about a Dewitts or Ron Davis unit as a winter mod for the Z06. I'm running high 220-230 coolant temps in the summer and the computer is cutting back on timing reducing power.

+1 for Dewitts.

I was seeing 250+ coolant temps in my boosted c5z before installing the Dewitts radiator. After installation temps dropped down to the low 200's. The very first event I did after the install my temps didn't break 191, I thought the sensor was broken.

over the winter I'm going to take advantage of the reduced height of my rad and stand it back up for better flow.

On the street during the summer the highest temp I ever saw was 181*

Have one in my GS with the EOC. Works as advertised.

226 is perfectly acceptable.

Full marks from me also

I installed the rad + twin fan set + distilled water, 2 bottles water wetter and just 2 quarts undiluted ACdelco coolant. I also put on a vented hood

Temperature drop was almost 30 deg C, from 145deg to 112 Max. Ambient temo was 40deg C in Bahrain 3 weeks past

Excellent set up

Are many running the stock oil cooler at the oil filter with these radiators? Anyone using a radiator with EOC built in?

I dumped the stock oil cooler and am using the integral oil cooler in the deWitt

More air to the A/C and it runs better now also

LTx cars don't have a stock oil cooler

I have the EOC in my DeWitts. Works great.

What kind of before/after temps? Water and oil drop well?

BTW

For about town driving, the twin fan set does more good than does the rad

I set the fans with 2 temp controllers, one at 185 on and one at 195 on. That takes a load off the battery/alternator and avoids the oil staying too cold

Hard to quantify vs a stock radiator due to multiple changes to the car. Changes include different engines (stock, to heads/cam, to the current 383), Meziere electric and OEM style waterpumps, running the engines at different rpms, etc.

My latest data point is my last track day earlier this month. It was 60* outside and partly sunny. I was shifting the new engine (383 with ~500hp at the crank) at 61/6200 rpm. On the front straight mid 130s to low 140s were effortless vs high 120s with the old engine.
- Coolant temps were generally in the mid to upper 190s
- Oil temps generally around 230
