Default Video Vette passing Ferrari

Thought you Vette guys might get a kick out of my amatuer video. I did a little editing for your viewing pleasure.

http://vimeo.com/7209054

I was still learning the track so my line and shifting weren't quite there yet. However, they must have been better than the guy in the Ferrari

This was from last weekend with the Chin Motorsports group @ Barber.

Nice video

I have seen Ferraris driven harder than that on the highway!

Reminds me of the first time I was on a track and "ran down" a GT3 Porsche like it was a Hyundai. No matter how slow they are going it ALWAYS feels good to go by!

Cool video! Looks like those tires worked out for you! I dont think its a good idea for the instructor to be grabbing the wheel in any case!

Nice vid and driving. Keep them coming.

Do you realy need an instructor?

Passenger touching the wheel is real stupid. A hammer would have come in real handy.

Fast car does not mean the driver is fast. Cool video nonetheless. Instructor grabbing the steering wheel?

I missed that somehow the first time I watched it... I don't care if you are Michael Schumacher in the passenger side, you do NOT touch my steering wheel.

I would prefer any instructor not touch the steering wheel when I am driving.
As an instructor myself, I would not even think of it.

JMHO

Otherwise, cool vid

Looks like you were going at it pretty good. I can't believe the instructor grabbed your wheel.

I'll never forget my first instructor. I learned a lot from him but he kept his hands in front of my face the whole weekend. My second time to the track I requested an instructor that drives a Mustang or Vette instead of a Porch driver. Drew a guy that drove a Vette and after the first session he said he had nothing to offer that I wasn't already doing. He turned me loose for solo on day 2.

I have videos of me passing Carreras and Vettes in my Nag Ford too. Feels good when you do it but you know it's not their cars fault.

Nice video!! Reminds me of my experience just 3 weeks ago at NJMP in novice group. (Actually green/yellow--they only had 3 gps). I had a lot of fun and since it was the 2nd day of a 2 day event, people went home early and it thinned out.

I had several epic battles. I drive at my pace of course and they drive at theirs. The best was a Ferrari 355 challenge car on slicks--I'm on Nitto mild R comp so his advantage. I had passed him once earlier in the day but we were alone just the 2 of us in this last session. I got up close to him just to prove to myself that I could, then let him go down the track at my instructor's urging. Then, laps later, I caught him again; no red mist, just driving my lines and practicing smoothness & consistency.

Have fun out there and watch out for the mist! Smoothness and consistency are key. My instructor would have been pretty pissed if I had so much as put a tire off.

Cool video. I could listen to that engine all day. It's funny how you don't get to enjoy the sounds as much when you're driving.

Believe me, I heard that engine. I don't look at tach to shift, I listen to engine. Especially while getting the heel/toe down. Every now and then I would wimp out on a blip before downshifting and self correct by not letting clutch out and blip again. Obviously if I were going all out 10/10 this would not be good. I'm still learning and do what I can until I'm sure of myself. Speed happens when you get smooth and confident

So most of you guys feel that an instructor, given an opportunity to make a small correction in order to keep a novice from tearing his car to pieces, should just sit on his hands?
