PIcs of Winches on Open Trailers
Well last week my trailer was stolen from my parents house so now I am looking to get a new open trailer again, I had a winch mounted up but with a new trailer means new chance to do it differently. Please post pics of how your winch is mounted on your open trailer please.

Sorry about the stolen trailer!!! Here is mine. The battery is in the storage box, I just chage it before I leave for an event and it works fine. I extended the control cord to reach past the end of the trailer so I'm with the car as it is loaded, and it plugs into the side of the storage box. JD

I didn't do one yet to my trailer buy I had a thought of mounting it on a track so I can just slide the winch side to side and drop a pin to secure. That way I can pull any car with a took hook mounted on any side easily. May be a square tube and sleeve.

Hey Brett, got your PM, sucks that your trailer got stolen. I'll post the pic here instead of emailing so others can use this method if they want. To keep this completely portable, I just bring a portable battery jumper pack with me and hook it up to the winch if I need it, that way Im not maintaining another battery and if someone needs a boost, I can help that way.. and its also a 12v-120v power source if I need to plug something in.

4. shows winch bar inside sleeve with pin holding it in place.

No pics but I'll describe what I did:
I didn't want to dedicate a winch to the trailer so I bought a winch with a hitch mount. I then went to Northern Tool and bought a bolt on receiver plate so I can slide the winch into it when needed. I bolted the mount forward so I have room to slide the winch mount into the receiver mount. Cables to the back of the truck and used a quick disconnect cable made for winches.
My tool box is a 2' x 5' on site job box you see at Lowes which is raised off the trailer floor 2 inches so I run the cable underneath the tool box. I picked up the box for $75 because it was scratched.

no pics from me, sorry, but mine is mounted so simply pics aren't useful anyway. it's simply mounted in the center at the frontmost part of the trailer. no battery box; instead there is a QD connector which mates to a connector i mounted on the hitch of the truck. (i use the truck battery to power the winch.) i have an aluminum trailer so underneath is a backing plate welded to the frame as the trailer deck isn't substantial enough.
