NASA at NJMP Saturday Oct 31st..
Since we were at NJMP for a member day on lightening, we decided to use the NASA hpde day on Friday at Thunderbolt for some testing... AJ got excited about racing so he took the red T-1 C6 from the runoffs and decided to race...
Many thanks to Joe and Dave from NASA and a totally hassle free registration and tech experience... These guys are growing leaps and bounds and having to hustle hard to keep up but they did a great job.
The rules are different and they allow all kinds of add ons and mods...
AJ qualified second behind a GT1 type car that was well prepared and very well driven.. Greg sobelewski had his ZR1 back together and up to speed and was in third and two VERY wicked fast all wheel drive Subarus were close behind along with a EVO and a lot of BMW's.
AJ remarked later that making his way up to the grid spot, he felt kind of at a disadvantage with no wing, big brakes or coil overs... But it all worked out well.
Over 50 cars in the race from all classes and some very cool looking equipment...
The race went without incident and the Pole sitter and AJ quickly pulled away from the field. When the leader got off course AJ pulled out a small lead and then two cars got off in turn one causing a long caution. As it began raining the clock wound down and the race ended under yellow..
A great experience and we will be back for more next year!!!

Joe, Thank you for the very kind words,it is always a pleasure to see You, A.J,Kurt and the boys from Phoenix at one of our events. I am glad went well for your team this past event. my good friends (Devon,Tony and Jr.-the fast Subie and Evo guys) and I had a great time meeting and talking with A.J. about his experiences in Koni Challenge and SCCA national events. It really means something to us grassroots guys to be able to get some insight as to how things work and what goes on at those levels. It also doesn't hurt to have someone like John Heinricy around the pits to bounce a question off of! We look forward to seeing more of the Phoenix gang at future events as we look to 2010, and maybe we can build off of that idea of getting racers with "outdated" C5 T1 Corvettes to come out to race with us in ST1 or even an all Corvette class like a NASA Northeast Challenge!!
