Do you turn your rotors when you change pads?
I am about to change my front pads and took a look at my rotors. They have about 12 autocross weekends on them and definitely are not smooth.....I assume that it is worth turning them. Is that what most people do? Or do you use them as is???
Thanks,
Charley

There are no issues in the rotational axis (i.e. no pulsation). But, if you take your finger and run it across the rotor it feels like you can feel "hills and valleys". specifically, where there are drilled holes there is less rotor wear (hills)...and where there are no holes there is more wear (valleys).

I think the only issue you will have is bedding the new pads in, until they conform to the hill/valley you won't get max braking.
I have turned some rotors & used with fresh pads & they are fine for street/autox but for track I would not used turned rotors.
BTW if they are drilled, I doubt anyone will put them on a brake lathe.
Anyone else?

I never turn rotors. Run them until they crack.
I don't know about C6 rotors, but for the C5 at $35ish each at NAPA it is just better to run them until they crack and them swap them out.
At first rotors last a long time, but as you get faster and run sticker rubber they will begin to crack with greater frequency. Tracks like WSIR are relatively gentle on brakes so they last a long time. Auto Club Speedway is quite harsh and I can crack a set of fronts in a weekend. Your crackage may very....

Don't bother turning them. I wouldn't bother sanding them down to get the old compound off either. After some hard braking the pads will bed.
