Default Best Way to Duplicate this Roll Cage??

Ok, I want to duplicate this cage in my next car that I hope to purchase in the next few months. The car is a World Challenge C4 cage, I will have access to this car for a few hours later in the spring and I would like to figure out the best way to get the degree of these bends so I can do it right. Should I just trace them with a marker and cardboard or is there a better way to get the info on each bend?

Go to a local hardware store (harbor freight is good). They make a tool for carpenters that you can use to mesure the angles. You just put it up against the bars and read the measurement.

Something like this:http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...temnumber=1028

Hope you aren't going to hold it in place with duct tape.

This pics are good enough if you are going to copy that cage.

Why duplicate ? Just take your car with a few of pics of this cage and take to a good cage builder.

Phoenix Performance will build you a great cage

I think the duct tape is holding the b-pillar cover on. I'd try and get some "straight-on" photos, from overhead, each side, directly front/rear, etc. I think a good builder could duplicate it without any measurements if you get good photos.

Take those pictures to Phoenix Performance, Palm, Pa and they will be able to build you exactly what you want and you will be getting it from the "Best in the Business". Their shop in Palm, Pa is where the cages are custom built.

I had mine fabricated by Competition Cages in NC. Took him pictures of what I wanted and he figured out everything else. He did a great job for under 2K. PM me if you need more info.

I'm not sure that this one would be all that great to duplicate. Take a look at some of the Corvette Challenge cages you have in your files. Also, remember that the area in front of the fire wall is a crush zone. Too many guys are putting the cage up front and compromising the crush zone.

Thanks for the info Richard, I plan on duplicating this car pictured here. The original car is still owned by GM but is in possession of other individuals and GM is trying to get the location of the car to get it back to there Heritage Collection.
