24 Hours of Daytona - Who's Going?
#21
I wish, and I was close, but the new job made up my mind. I will be watching it all on TV, and via the live timing and scoring.
My picks, if anyone cares:
#70 SpeedSource Mazda in GT
#6 Ford/Riley in DP. I think it's Shank's year. Ganassi will be tough though.
I'll be cheering for my man Joao Barbosa in the #9 though

I'm all for Stonewood - I live here so I can go to all those local places all year long!!
I posted the schedule of events for the whole weekend below. For anybody at the Conti 200 on Friday afternoon with Todd Z, it looks like it's got a 2-1/2 hour time limit so it won't go past 4:15.
....So.....I'm standing by for what time would be good for us, and confirmations on numbers of people. You can list here, or PM me.

So far I only got 8, and the restaurant says 7:00 is a good time for them to take care of a large party.
Varkwso - 3
Todd Z - 2
Daytona-flyer - 1
Me - 2
I talked with the restaurant and they have lots of room for plenty more folks - whether it's a separate room or just a section of the main restaurant depends on how many we end up with, so if you plan on coming just PM me and I'll add you to the list so we can get the right size area for seating.

So far we're up to 10 people.
The restaurant says 7:00 would be good for them to handle us, so let's plan on 7:00. Below is a map of the location and the address is on the map.
The location is on A1A just a couple blocks south of Granada (FL Rt 40), and it's on the west side of the street.
If you're not staying on the beach side of the Intracoastal Waterway, there are several bridges over the Intracoastal to the beachside.
Lookin' forward to it!

Looking forward to it. One of my favorite places to eat. Probably because I only get there twice a year and it is usually warm when it is the dead of winter here.

My last Army assignment before switching over to the Coast Guard was a 3 year tour at Rucker instructing in Hueys that ended in 1979.
Are you getting a transition???
Hope to see you here in Daytona. Even if it's last minute you're certainly welcome to hook up with us - there will be room for party crashers!!!

Many congrats on finishing up flight school - makes me remember how proud I was to get my Army Aviator wings almost 38 years ago (OMG - was it that looooong ago?!?!?!)

In a 90 knot Huey with slightly more than a 2 hour fuel capacity, a looong cross country was 150 miles!!
The Army just doesn't do cross countries like the AF or Navy.
BTW, do you know my former colleague Glenn Harmon? He was also a Varkwso, and now is a Prof. of Aero Science here in Daytona. I think he was assigned mostly in Scotland when overseas.

I think so. It was a small community (and getting smaller everyday). He would have been assigned mostly in England when overseas. Upper Heyford or Lakenheath unless he did an exchange tour at Lossiemouth.
