Default lost 4th gear !!!!!! drive it ???????? :)

Hey guys

slave cylinder was getting soft and i stripped 4th gear syncro and then it got stuck in 4th. luckily it popped backout and i finished the day with first second and third. track did not need 4th

its prob the keys/dogs are broke for the 4th gear fork

i don't need 4th thru 6th she ran great in 1st thru 3rd

she does 100mph in 3rd.

think i can change the tranny oil and get one more day out of her?

I would look at what the event was. If it's a fun day without too much stress of missing it. Put it on the trailer. If its a point race or something like that, then drain, refill, drive as many times as you can.

It sounds like you have a couple different issues going on Do you want to buy a new 2nd gear because the slave is going away? Most of the time when you grind a gear the teeth get smashed over, other times they chip off peices. Use a paint strainer when you drain the trans.

I had it stick in 4th--yes it was the keys. I don't think it is any good for the other syncros to drive that way but when I had mine redone, they did all the syncros anyway even though they looked good. Their reasoning was that it was hard to tell how long they would last and they didn't want to put their name on something and have it poop out too soon.

So in a way...I'm not sure you have much to lose. You're looking at a rebuild anyway. Mine was inexpensive though, just the keys and syncros.

10 times this. Do you know why you stripped 4th in the first place? Did you do something to ensure you will not repeat it with 3rd?
I would park the car until you can troubleshoot at least the original issue.

If you know your going to replace it anyway and have the means to do so while not being worried about being stranded, I would just run the poo out of it.
