I will let you decide my next mod! (POLL)
Let's make this fun! I will create a poll so the forum can help me decide on my next mod (all are welcome to vote including vendors who I may buy stuff from). I can't wait to hear all the pro's, con's and great feedback.
I have some extra money this spring to potentially spend on a mod for the C6Z. For this discussion please leave out the standard expendable items such as tires, brake pads, and rotors, as well as more track time, as they are already accounted for in my budget. I have been an advanced driver for years, so no "more seat time" responses either (but seat time is good).
Here are the 3 mods. For this discussion please stay with these mods (I already got seats, harness, full suspension work, race suit, hoosiers, phoenix prep, etc...)
1) Big Brake Upgrade (front only)- Been wanting to do this for some time. I personally think the OEM calipers are the best brakes I have ever used since I have owned 4 vettes (85, 95, 01Z, 06Z) , but the pad changes are HORRIBLE and the cost of the pads is just insane. I have often said this mod will pay for itself over time. Would change just to make pad changes easier, don't expect anything more.
2) Cam Upgrade - Throw in a big fat Katech Torquer Cam package and get up to 525+rwhp. Not much to say about this mod, except WAH WHOO!! 525rwhp would feel pretty f$%&ing awesome to say the least. Car would be wicked for sure.
3) Do a single racing school weekend - You have seen my post about trying to do a NASA race. I need to get a license first and then pay for a rental car as well as 3 days of registration fees. I ALWAYS wanted to do a real W2W race. BUT, after this I have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to show (no car, no mods, nothing in my hand) and did maybe one or two actual races. I have a license I'd never use again, unless I spent another $2000 for car rental (not happening).
4) Upgrade my master bathroom. My house is 40 years old, and the bathroom was redone in the late 80's or early 90's. It not horrible, but you get the idea. Would be nice to have some new Italian tile, granite countertop, sunken sink, and a new tile shower. It's one of those rooms no one ever sees, except you, so a hard call.
After some reasearch, I got some ballpark quotes on each.
1) Brakes (approx $2200)
2) Cam (approx $2350)
3) Race weekend (approx $2900)
4) Bathroom ($3k-5kish)
I NEED YOUR HELP! What do you guys think?

With the right system, what you save in pads ($200 vs $400+)and time you will still be able to pay for the Bath upgrade.
Also, you will have much more fun at the track because you won't have to feel guilty for spending all your money on the car and nothing on the house (where the wife is probably )
Check out Gary's new AP kit coming very soon.

Would number four get you the bonus package with wife or other women?

Great responses! Love this forum
Bathroom buys me nothing, but a bathroom...wife already can't stand me (heck I can't stand me).
Plus I probably will do the bathroom anyway.
I should have known posting in a road race forum everyone would pick brakes I should have posted in the C6Z forum and everyone would have talked me into that mouth watering cam

You're ahead of the curve for most people with your track experience and your car. If you are married, I'd put the money into the bathroom first as it will pay much bigger dividends. If you aren't married then go with BBK.

I voted BBK.
I am not sure as I have not done this, but if you spend some time in NASA doing their Time Trial program, you can apply for a W2W license and they may or may not let you have one after an evaluation. I could be wrong though.

Burning Brakes
Aside from upgrading the bathroom which should earn some nice brownie points with your financial advisor (wife) which you said you would do anyways... I would suggest doing the driving school.
This would give you a way to see if you would even like that option and if you don't, its good experience. You may even decide to just sell your C6Z for something race prepped, which there are some good deals on C6 and C5Z T1 cars that fit nicely into Nasa's ST2 class.

I can't beleive how many bathroom votes. Is this a roadrace forum or a bed, bath and beyond forum
You guys suck!! I expected so much more from you...and not ONE VOTE for the cam Doug and Chris at ECS are depending on me
It's a race between the BBK and the bathroom.
But in all seriousness, great responses so far!!

I'm voting brake upgrade.....
Less weight,
Less un-sprung weight
Less rotational weight
More rotor life
More pad life
Easier on the car, easier on replacement parts, just more bang for the buck in my opinion.
Besides....if you want to go cam. G7X3

I had a small bathroom upgraded -
took out bathtub
installed tile shower
tiled floor
new cabinet
new sink with granite top
new fixtures
new toliet
cost $16K so if you go with the cam and brakes you will be saving money
