I'm confused, when I knew the Alto brothers, (I wasn't legal to drive, but did anyway - past the statute of limitations/legislation), I had a 63 fuely convert, - a stolen and recovery that was silver originally. Unfortunately, the car was stolen again when I was in school and after 3 weeks, I did find the carcass, but the 12 points, the safety wired suspension was enough for a positive id. Anyway, Tommy had his 63 fuelly coupe and a 65 roadster that they were racing, and harbored outside of Valley Stream, on Merrick, about 3 miles past Frank Domiani's place. Anybody out there know what I'm talking about - on the outside world, most of the "real Vette Guys - (boy am I gonna get an earful for that, but that IS the way it is/was), as 'MakoMike - the kid w/ BB & Prate Flag' from the street wars on the 'Connecting', the 'pits & the Xbay strip' and Fountain Ave - from the days of the 'Beat Me Eat Me Chick, as to opposed to newer community who know me as Corvette Mike

I was at Daytona for the Spring swap meet in 1997 and ran into Phil Currin. Phil had one of John's old cars at the track for sale along with a couple of others and about that time, John showed up. I haven't seen him since.
I run into Phil now and again. Phil is still living in Gainesville.

They haven't been there the past couple years. I know Glenn is getting up in age. I hope everything is OK. His web site hasn't been updated since 2011.

Fun! The black and white car that gets around the yellow one about 4:20 into the video is Mike Harrison. That car is now in Middleburg getting a major refreshing by Dave Bacher. He hopes to run SVRA with it.
I went off to the the Air Force in 1979 and lost track of most of the Corvette club racers. It was great when there were five to ten Vettes on the big bore grid and C2 were still being raced.
Phil Currin shows up at an autocross every once in awhile. He's still quick!

Here are some more from the same weekend. Not sure what happened to the sound. I had blown the engine and we needed something to continue the points race. I had an old 327 out of a '64 chevy that was given to me that ran, and we dropped it in. It wasn't real fast, but it kept me in the points. It was frustrating to have people run away from me, though.

To those that replied/commented about my dad's #10 (the brown/orange/yellow C3), apologies that I missed the replies here (I wasn't getting notifications about updates to the post). I've tried to reply via PM directly, as appropriate. As time permits, I will try and get more of his photos to post here. And anyone that has photos/videos of him racing (WI/MN/midwest in the 60s-late 70s and SE late 70s - late 80s), I would appreciate anything you can share. He also ran the blue Tangent Firebird at Daytona24, etc., and when it was involved in the unfortunate RA rain accident.
Thanks again, everyone,
David Durovy

Bridgehampton SCCA September 1990
I ran across something interesting (for me anyway) the other night. This is a video of the Sept 1990 SCCA race at Bridgehampton. This was the first SCCA race since 1984.
The weekend was a double race, which I think there was confusion over, as there were two fees. Many didn't run Sunday as a result. Heck, many didn't run Saturday either. Sound restrictions were really tight. IIRC, it was about 90 dB or 95 dB at the normal 50 feet on the A scale AND less than 65 dB at the property line, which was not much further away, maybe another 20 feet or so. That made it very tough to be legal even with street mufflers on any of the non-showroom stock cars.
Because of sound restrictions, it may have been the only and last race for the big bore cars even though the last race was 1997 before they tore up the track and made a golf course. Ironically, the golf course caused even more problems than the track did since the fertilizer and watering became an environmental hazard.
Video is typical, with you yelling at the guy to move the camera at what is important, but he shows a lot of the race day. Not much on the big bore race.
I'm in at 14:20 and 15:00 so it is neat for me. I just wish there was more.
I do have to add, in case any are on here, that New York Region SCCA put on a great weekend. They have a great dinner for all racers and workers Saturday night and everyone was friendly and helpful. It is a real shame to not be able to race there anymore.
