Default Laguna Seca Video - 2.25.10

Here are segments from four run groups from this past Thursday where we (several CF members) snuck in between two storm fronts and had perfect weather.

I would love to drive that track. Nice video quality, what kind of camera do you have?

Thanks for sharing the videos. On some of your laps, you hear a "bang" at the apex of Turn 6. Do you know what that is? I happen to see a video of a S2000 running Laguna Seca, and he had an even louder bang at the apex of Turn 6. Just curious what might be going on at that turn.

That's the sound of my tires self-clearancing the fenders as I had the front just a little too low. To take 6 fast you need to drop into the apex and use it as a berm to hook the inside tire. I was also hitting in 8a and 10 but not too bad.

Camera is the new GoPro HD Motorsports shot at 720p. YouTube is only 480p.

Best was a 1:44.3 in the last video posted. All five laps were within 1 sec. I dropped 2.5 sec from 12/4/09 there on my first visit. Still aways to go.

There is a depression at the apex in T6, which is a very high speed kink . . . our cars fully compress and can bottom out at speed! Also at the bottom of T8 (corkscrew).

Thanks for the vids, Dan.

Turn 6 is very deceptive, the possible speed is much higher than it appears. Taken correctly, there is just a "dab" on the brakes, then drop the driver's side front tire off the rumble strip at the apex. This produces an almost violent "lurch" around the apex of this turn, quite unlike anyother turn that I have ever experienced.

Just be careful not to go too far off the inside of T6... I did that once and the tire went up on the red marker and tore a blister in the sidewall.
