Default for those of you running no ebrake...

have had the e-brake hardware off awhile, but waited till now (when I need rear bearings) to pull the ebrake backing plate. it's .045" thick. for those of you that have pulled this (I know CP thunder mentioned it in a thread), are you re-shimming the thickness of the plate, or mounting the bearing on the upright by itself?

thinking about the centering of the rotor in the caliper bracket (pad wear) as the caliper will stay put, but the rotor/hat is going to move inward .045"...

Not necessary, caliper is floating design.

I agree, it is really only an issue if you are running aftermarket or C6Z Fixed calipers.

I didn't pull our backing plates as I sorta like keeping the wheel sensor mount secure. Less wear and tear on the wiring.......

I get .080" and .075" of clearance for rotor to bracket, and .030" on the backside now. Just seems a bit tight.

I suppose you could shim the bracket off the spindle...

if you are concerned, just "trim out" the backing plate so that you keep only the part needed for spacing, and remove the rest to improve cooling. Truth is the rears don't need much cooler, so there is no harm in leaving the plates intact.

Thats exactly what I just got done doing. I cut everything outside the 3 bolt holes and the tab for the sensor.

2 ounces lighter now!
