Couple Home-made fixes for a Camara mount & Vinyl Numbers
Thought I would share a coupe easy fix's for an expensive camera mount and better looking numbers than painter's tape. The mount is a conduit holder from Lowes for 6 bucks already is tapped for the correct size all thread for a camera mount. And Numbers is spray painted on shelving paper . You can get as creative as you want with the numbers, I just put a couple cut out Jakes I printed on line behind the paper.

Good idea!
I made an extended mount with plastic deck board:
I had the material left over from some other project. It's really tough but easy to work with.

That is neat. I'm forever wrestling with my ioport mount (not the mount's fault - I'm picky).
Check out this Sony wide-angle lens from ebay for $25: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=200356305605. It came in a few days. Fits perfectly and I think it will improve the videos quite a lot.

Here is a video shot with the mount. It seemed to hold up well.

I threw this together quickly before a race. Actually works pretty well since you can play with the angle and aim of the camera pretty easily. Has held up to AutoX and long drives.
Piece of AL angle, muffler u-bolt clamp, hose clamp and a cheap short tripod. (15$ total...maybe?)
Not pretty but...

I use shelving/contact paper for numbers and it works like a champ. Medium adhesive seems to work the best. I use white and just cut them out.

That conduit holder is actually a water pipe clamp used for grounding/bonding the water system to the electrical system. Just trying to make it easier for people to know what to ask for at Lowes/Home Depot. Is the all-thread 1/4'' or 3/8" ? Very clever idea, thanks for posting it.

Sweet. I just installed a full cage and was trying to figure out a way to cheap out on a new camera mount.
I used the same mini DVD camera forever with good results, but hated having to swap the 30min disc out after every session. It wasn't until I bought a new camera that I realized I could have put a memory stick in it.
Oh yeah and get a wide angle lens ($25 at Best Buy) - it's the bomb.
BTW - the all thread is 1/4".
