I want to pick one up for this summer's season, I don't want to go crazy in price, but I also don't want to get a piece of junk.

I got the G-Force Hybrid a couple of years ago - it seemed to be the best value then. I like it alot. With sunglasses, it is almost like a full face without being full face.

go somewhere and try them on.. i wear a large in Bell ad simpson and xl in most others.. also the shape of the helmet will affect your attention.
the cheaper helmets are heavier.. no big deal for 3-5 min autoX, exhausting after the 6 run in a day of HPDE...
The Bike shops have lots of specials but be sure to get a Snell-05 minimally rated helmet.
If no Head and neck restraint.. get a full face helmet...they also sit better on the ground when not protecting your knogin... open face helmets will likely end up upside down and scratch the purty decals...
and yes deals make u go faster.... at least in your mind...

had a G-Force and currently use a Simpson
nothing wrong with the G-Force helmet, but the simpson is lighter and more comfortable. Well worth the extra money if you're going to be in it for very long.

I have a Simpson Carbon Fiber Stingray. It weighs next to nothing and fits awesome. They are on sale practically everywhere because Simpson is coming out with a newer SA2010 version and wants to get rid of the SA2005 helmets.

I don't know where in your located in NY but if your near long island contact BRM motorsports or Oval speed they have different brands to try on. I'm using a Bell M4 pro if you go with Bell make sure it's not the older model so that your not using the detent shield system

I just picked up a HJC Si-12, very light and at a respectable price point. As said above, you really need to try stuff on to see what will work best for you and note differences between manufacturers. Weight is also important from a safety prospective during a incident(aside from potential driver fatigue), and especially if not using a HANS.

Bell M3 Full face. They have larger / wider eye slits that are great when you wear glasses like I do. They are light, SA 2010 rated and cost around $400. Good value for the money.

Anyone using the Simpson Bandit? I've heard good things about it but I don't have any local shops that carry it, so I can't test it out.
