The Texas Mile (THIS WEEKEND)!! 3/26/10
We are leaving for the Texas Mile today. We'll be there Thursday, Fri, & Sat with 3 Black C6Z06's.
1) MTI Racing/RHS 500 cu.in. (naturally aspirated Vette record holder at 201mph)
2) MTI Racing/RHS 500 cu.in. with Magnacharger TVS2300 (customer driver)
3) MTI Racing forged LS7 with TVS1900 System (customer driver)
Here are a few pics of us preparing the car.
The Rig getting new glass. We got a huge rock chip in transit from Road Atlanta.
Aero panels being made for low drag
Last year we ran 201mph on a FAST 102 Intake. This year we are using the Kinsler Cross-ram Intake.

Here are some pics from last year's run
Here is a video of last October's Texas Mile run at 201mph (No blower, No Nitrous, ALL Motor)

A Kinsler Cross-ram Intake - I'm going to have to stop over and drool. I'm curious what the difference between it and the 102 end up being for top speed. Did you change anything on the car other than the intake?

It's still running the 500 cu.in. RHS block.
But we've got big drag radials, better aero prep, and "Dog-Ring" clutchless transmission. You must go find Reese and talk to him about the transmission. It cut .4 seconds off each upshift. It is awesome.
I like the 2-tone paint on the Atomic Z.

I caught up to Reese a couple times and talked to him about the tranny amongst other things.
The funny thing is I shelled my second RPM stage 5 tranny on the trip. What sucks is that this one was brand new (previous one had about 6000 miles). I'll get into this at another time after I talk to RPM.
Did Reese hit 200 this time?

Thank you to all who came to the Texas Mile.
Here is the "official" writeup from the weekend. Basically it was AWESOME!
MTI Racing sets record (0 to 1-Mile, 206 mph)
Goliad, Texas, 3 Days, 1 Mile, No speed limit. MTI Racing returned to The Texas Mile in search of the most prestigious acceleration challenge to date. Participants come from all edges of the United States, Canada and Mexico to test themselves and their motorized equipment to achieve their top speed in 1-Mile from a standing start.
At 206 mph, MTI Racing now holds the record for the Fastest Naturally Aspirated Production car ever to run the Texas Mile.
Equipped with our 2006 Z06, we applied precise engineering principles in engine building technology, aerodynamics and transmission preparation. Powered by a 500cu.in. engine built by our very own MTI Machine Shop, Reese *** piloted the Z06 down the 4-mile airstrip from a standing start to 206 mph at the 1-mile marker, while still accelerating at full force. Customers Mike and Bob brought their MTI Racing built Z06’s and ran 203mph and 198 mph, respectively. Among the paddock, there were steak BBQ’s and drivers telling tall tales. Motorcoaches everywhere! If you have never been to the Texas Mile, we encourage you to drive up and join us, especially for the hilarious “downtime festivities”. We captured a bunch of video using the HeroCam. Be on the lookout for that video.
