All makes and models are welcome so don't feel owning a Katech Z is a requisite.
Beginner: First time track participants:
You will learn at your pace AND your comfort level. There are no goals that have to be met in a specific time period. Everybody learns differently varying from comprehension to implementation. You will leave this event as a much better and safer driver -- what you will learn applies to everyday street driving as well.
Focus will include but not limited to; proper car seating positioning, weight transfer characteristics, safe track egression, track etiquette, passing cars safely, corner worker information/command flags.
Intermediate: You've been to the track a few times. caught the bug and want to learn more. We will abide.
Focus will include; proper trail-braking, car safety nannies, driving with different weight totals in the car (i.e. passengers--fuel capacity), interpreting what the car is telling you
Advanced: Pros, Instructors and seasoned drivers.
Focus will include; finding the tire optimal sip angle, driving on the rear tires for maximum efficiency, how to reel in a car with more HP, being humbled by the pro drivers!
Don Esbjornson and I will be giving rides in our fully race prepped caged Corvettes to those that want a taste of real road racing.
With Katech track support it's a maintenance worry free event! Those who are on the fence that want to come out can PM me and I can share more or answer specific questions
Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

I just got the reminder to this and I REALLY want to try this.... maybe next year. I don't think I have the nerve yet to get the car out on a track, even alone.
Sounds like a great lineup and a really good time to have the cars out.
I'll be looking for this next year for sure.

I'll be at the event with my father. I'm really looking forward to working with this caliber of instructors.
I learned a lot about the track yesterday while running there with my near stock C5Z to a 1:34.9 yesterday. This is going to be a blast!

But like anything you control a high % of the risk in your actions.
1st timers rarely have issues unless of course they think they already know everything and are trying to prove they are Mario Andretti on lap one. The drivers at most risk of doing damage are the HPDE 3ers, those that have enough skill to get an instructor out of thier car but not a lot of experience, they are at risk of getting over their head and don't have the experience to fall back on. If you know your limits the risk is very low, cool heads prevail. I have never seen car to car contact in an HPDE, 99% of the risk lies with you.

IMO, you are at more risk driving to and from the track.

AverageVetteNut,
Ironically what I teach in the classroom for first timers at Track Attack is 100% applicable to street driving. It will make you a safer driver overall.
You have autocross experience and I have found that such drivers are way ahead on the learning curve as they possess basic understanding of car control.
It's possible you may be fearful with the wrong ideas of going on track. We teach safety first and foremost, and believe it or not, that is what makes you a faster in control driver. We are not racing, which is a completely different venue often obfuscated within HPDEs.
I noticed Adam Boca is listed on your friend page. Ask him about how driving on the track translated to street driving and if it helped him on a trip home many years ago driving in the rain.
Once you learn how to swim, you'll never be afraid of the water!
Come on out and see why past rookies return!

Mike... Adam and I have talked about it @ CI last year @ the autocross. And I agree 100% that just as autocross has crossed over into street driving that the roadcourse experience would be a great thing for that too. Not to mention since I'm 'new' with the Z06 ( 2nd season running it ) it would help get the speed and handling adjustments better for me ( hand-eye and reactions ).
I'm definately interested, and I came close to doing the Katech thing. Hoping to get some local seat time maybe this summer ( Beaverun is 1 hr from me ) and go from there.

Thanks... trying to be methodical and NOT jump into anything like that without my head being on straight. I'm NOT one of those "I gotta go out there and tear it up" kinda guys.
Im sure you guys will see me out there sooner than later.

Have to check... I didn't see any NASA stuff slated. Unless it's titled differently.
