I think its cheap and inexpensive What are you going to use it for? If its for racing, I would get something better.

Pass.

Safety gear should be bought from factory certified and trained dealers approved buy the top manufacturers (Sparco, G-Force, Schroth, etc). Their service and knowledge in proper harness installation is invaluable. There are a lot of variables most drivers do not know to consider.

you can get a g-force 5 point harness for like $10 more. If funds are tight, I would go with the G-force...

OK... I just wanted to see what people thought, without offering any of my personal thoughts to begin with.

Strange, the Sparco, Schroth belts all go for $200 up to $700-800.
The G-Force, RCI, KMG are $60 up.

Yet they are all SFI 16.1 approved (or better).

I don't really see much difference fundamentally....
they all are 5 or 6 point, they offer Bolt or Snap, they are cam-lock or latch.

Maybe I'm just too "thick"... but if they all are fundamentally the same,
why buy the more expensive one?

I am interested in putting one in my C6 for Autocross, and a few HPDE.
The stock belt just does not hold me down into the seat adequately.
I am not interested in the shoulder belt portions.... just the lap belt.

And... price isn't really a major concern... but I don't believe in throwing money away either.

It depends on the materials used in the belts. Polyester belts are more expensive and cam locks are more expensive. For latch and link nylon belts these ones are sort of right in the price range of the other manufacturers. Unless the company isn't SFI certified properly they should be good belts. Sometimes the difference in price between belts like RJS and Simpson is in the mounts. I bought the RJS belts a number of years ago and found out they wouldn't bolt into my car and I had to go with a Simpson or G Force belt to get an end that would work.

I would think if they are sfi rated, they should be good enough for any autocross or hpde. I myself have the g-force camlock 5 point in my 73. I think i got it for $80 a couple of years ago. Camlock is alot easier to buckle.

Don't dismiss the shoulder belts too lightly. That is what really holds you in your seat. I used to have just an aftermarket lap belt in my 73 that I could tighten pretty good. When I switched to the harness with the shoulder belts, it was night and day differenece. I was held in the seat better and didn't have to use my knees or elbows to brace myself around corners. Next step for me is to install a set of seats with the holes for the shoulder belts. Currently I have the belts over the top of the stock seat, but that isn't really holding me in as well as it could. It doesn't press down on the shoulders like it should, just presses my shoulders back into the seat.

The tighter you have yourself in your seat, the less you have to brace yourself and the better you are able to handle the car.

5 point harnesses are great, if your lifetime ambition is to be a Vienna Choir boy.

OK, all opinions are appreciated.

Now, using the stock C6 seats, how do we attach these lap belts (assuming a Bolt connection) to the C6 seat rails/connections/belt bolts?

Do I need a LapBelt bar ?, or can I connect to the stock belt bolts?

harness should pass though holes in the seat, and not around the seat back for security and safety.

getting the proper seats comes first

C6 seats and not designed for harnesses AND be safe

Yes, I am aware of this with regards to the shoulder belts.

My initial concern is with merely installing a lap belt,
which I want to be able to hold me more securely into the seat.
(Instead of sliding around on the seat, and having to brace my left knee against the door speaker grill).

The C5 stock belt is better (IMHO) than the C6 belt, because the lap portion is fixed at both ends, and therefore when you cinch it, it holds fast. The C6 is fixed at the interior side, but is merely slipping through the connector on the door side, which therefore allows any movement in the upper belt to affect the lap portion.

OK, here is what I have done.

I ordered a Hardbar LapBelt Bar ($150).
I ordered a Schroth Clubman III 6-pt bar, with snapon connectors, and pull-up belts ($199).
It is a cam-lock.

Thanks guys, for all your helpful information.

Sorry I chimed in late. Don't know the belt you decided to purchase but I hope it's a cam lock. I bought a very nice Pyrotect latch type belt, and on a couple of occasions during autocross when things weren't going well or there was a lot of transition I have unlatched it. Would really worry me at a track event. I know the latch is secure, have had trouble undoing it as well. Before I track the car my plan is to upgrade to a cam lock. Easier to put on and adjust as well.

would never wear a cam lock in the race boat to many parts to fail. Then being under water possibly upside down and in the dark Latch belts work good but the cam is easier in the car. I did have one latch pop once in a while when you think it is in.

This sounds like a recipe for bad things to happen. I hope you reconsider using the harness with the stock seat, but that's your choice. I know i wouldn't use a harness without the proper seat and my hans device.

I would hate to think of what is harder on the jewels...

Personally, I went with the Teamtech JetPilot...perhaps that may help me avoid a "degloving" incident...
