Default Would like to visit a track in the DC area?

I always like to go watch , wonder around , and see new tracks. I was going to be in the DC area from April 20th - May 9th

Is VIR the only thing close? I would preferr seeing club or SCCA racing instead of ALMS or indy

The Rolex Grand-Am race is at VIR that weekend. There is the Grand-Am race but there is also a ton of supporting races over the course of the weekend.

Summit point is only 1.5 hrs from dc, I'm there this weekend w/ NASA. You can google summit pt click calendar and see if there are any races there while you're in the area.

Summit Point is your best bet. The weekend of May 1-2 there are two events going on (they have two tracks there):

- Wash DC SCCA is on the Shenandoah track. HPDE and TT.
- For vintage racing the Jefferson 500 is on the main track (http://www.jefferson500.org)
- You can even stay around in the evening and partake of Summit Point Karting - haven't done it but have heard good things about it.

Summit is the only track within reasonable distance from DC for an out-and-back in one day.

There's SCCA club racing on the 24th/25th at Summit Point. I'll be running the Vette.

Yes, 4/24-25 is on Summit Point main.
5/1-2 is on SP Shenandoah. You could probably drive your rental car for that event, since it is a PDX (HPDE.)
If you're craving even more, the SCCA will also be at VIR on 5/8-9.

What class is your vette? Our local track Reno-fernley never had enough in each class so the fast qual group was everything from GT1, BP's VP3's T1's to get a group of maybe 24 cars. So you would have a spread of @ 15-20 seconds on the 4.2 mile course

It's a NASA ST2 car that runs ITE with SCCA. We have small fields in WDC region for the big bore group so I'm lumped in with the GT1 etc. I'll get passed by them once in the race, but it's still a lot of fun.
