Glove Recommendation?
I have been using a cheap pair of safetyracing gloves that I picked up from Speedway Morors a couple years ago. However, I got them soaked in fuel and no longer want to use them for my driving gloves.
I soaked them from fueling during the Chump Car race at BIR.
I need a comfortable good quality glove that will last me awhile.
One of my friends has the Oakley CarbonX gloves and likes them but what about the nicer Sparco's Or alpinestars?
Budget of $130 max prefer to stay under $100

I go thru a set of gloves/year. After a race or two I would find the palms of the gloves would get slick. This year I bought these:

I know they are above your budget, but I promise you....well worth it.
Once you try these on and grip the wheel you won't believe the difference. They have suction cup like things (Sparco calls them Volcanoes) that wiil not slip on the wheel and act like a shock absorber as well>>>AWESOME

I like the Sparco gloves. They are sewn with the seams on the outside of the fingers and are pre formed with a slight finger curve to allow for better grip. Also have a nice grippy leather surface for good wheel contact. + or - $125.00 and worth it.

I use the Puma Pro-Fit cat Gloves and like them very much. They are VERY comfortable......and reasonably priced at ~$120.

Check out some of the TeamDI gloves, they are on Discount from a few dealers on some forums and they send out email blasts with specials as well.
They have a Delta 4 which is like a Sparco, reverse stitch, saw it on the other forums in black M and XL for $40...www.teamdiusa.com check em out.
The new Alpine Stars and Sparco models for 2010 i heard are nice but like $140-180!

Thanks for all the advise. I am not sure what I will end up with. I will watch sales for the next couple weeks.. From the sound of it most of the $120 dollar gloves are fairly good quality.

I use white golf gloves. The sizes available are probably better than any other type of gloves, and they are thinner and a better fit and make point bys and waves very easily seen. I use them for HPDE though, as I don't race. Of course they offer little to no fire protection, but they are very grippy and comfortable.

None of the reverse stitch gloves will be SFI rated, so that takes off most of the high end stuff, and then there is just not much built for SFI in terms of gloves, since not many places require SFI gloves. Its strange that the insurance company for chump/lemons require it, they should definitely get a better ins company

The Puma's that I referenced are SFI 3.3/5 approved and VERY comfortable. At this price I don't know why you would look any further.

Sparco, Simpson and Alpine Stars all make some nice gloves. I've been using the Simpson Elite gloves lately...they're comfortable and they meet specs. If racing gloves are required for whatever organization and class you run under make sure they comply.
A good source for gloves and other racing gear is saferacer.... http://www.saferacer.com/auto-racing-gloves/?cat=54
