Default Pikes Peak Hillclimb

Love hillclimbs

Drove up Pikes Peak once, racing up it would be insane!

It will be interesting to see if Rhys Millen can break his own record in that crazy Hyundai.

I've driven (not raced) up it many times in a 67 427, so I can say that if you don't have a forced induction motor (turbo "normalized" in aircraft speak) then you will lose so much horsepower that by the summit you won't even be able to spin your tires on the gravel road!
(I think you lose about 3% of available horsepower for every thousnd feet...............and there's 14 of those

I hate to say it, but the 8hp (yes eight) electric car I worked on in College actually PASSED a Corvette when it raced up Pikes Peak

I can't wait to go back. My in-laws live just 15 minutes from Pikes Peak and go every year. I got to go a few years back. It was a great time. Got to see a 54 vette go flying buy...which happened to be one of the blurriest photos I took that day. Go figure. It was one loooooong day though.

I miss Colorado, just because of the hill climbs. Was never allowed to race Pikes Peak but did do the Teller County Hill Climb. What a blast.
