Ran PBIR (Moroso) IN-CAR VIDEO ADDED
What a blast! The NCCC Corvette Convention was held last week in Palm Springs Florida and we ran one lap TT's on PBIR and used the Kart track for the autocross plus the drags on the strip.
I ran the car in T1 trim, we left pit out and got half a lap to warm up tires and take the green at back straight. Then continue to run one full lap and stop the lights again where we started, then shut down and come in pits.
I ran a lap time of 1:24.8**. Is this a good time for a T1 C5 Corvette for never being there? I really liked the track and would love to go back for a SCCA race sometime. Weather was 95 & HOT all week but we all had a great time.
Autocross, That was a fun, tight technical Kart track. Hats off to Johnny Haskell (Racerwannabe) here on the forum. He ran a 48.333 for overall FTD with myself in 2nd with a 48.353. Nice run brother!
Drags! Well as usual I sucked and red lighted 2nd round but the stock LS6 with LG longtubes did a 12.30 @ 117 mph.
Great to see everyone and thanks to the Florida Region NCCC Corvette Clubs for putting this event on.
Video of 2 runs. Sorry I am not sure how to edit yet, so the 1st runs starts at the 3:40 mark and then the 2nd run is at the 13:00 mark.

Also, great job to my friend Joe Reese (GS023) here as his race car broke before we started, so I let him jump in my car. Joe never seen the track or been in my car and ran a 1:28.0**. Way to go buddy!

Sounds like you had fun Aaron! I have to make a convention one of these years. It never seems to be good timing for me though.

1:24.8 is pretty respectable for T1 and first time there.
for comparison our V8 StockCar series class track records:
V8 GT1: (SCCA GT1) Jeff Emery 1:17.286 winged, SB2 Monte Carlo
V8 GT2: (SCCA STO) Doug Wilson 1:22.100 BMW M3
V8 SPO: (Nascar Cup Car) Bob Mitten 1:18.623 ex Tony Stewart Monte Carlo
V8 GTA: (SCCA GTA) Jay Marshall 1:20.029 ASA Impala LS1 powered
the old V8 GT2 record from 2009 was a 1:24 and change by Bob Turnage in an old
Grand Am Motorola Cup type (powell motorsports) C5 Vette. This car has about
400 hp to the wheels and T1 type suspension.

Chris Ingle T1 C6 Corvette Lap time & record 1:25.564
I am happy with that, right in the ball park for a T1 car.

That is a good lap time, do you have any back up to that????? Its palm Beach, not Palm Springs..... I wish.
Ingle runs pretty strong, and Bosco knows his times.
Sounds pretty quick for a T1 car first time on this track.............

You can take a stop watch and watch my in-car and start it and stop it on the back staright where the 1st set of laydown cones are. Thats where the beam is for the timing equipment. NCCC does not use transponders so no mylaps, just results/lap times that will come out in a couple months in the NCCC Corvette Blue Bars Magazine.
Sorry on the Palm Springs, must have been thinking Cali for some reason.

It might have been Aaron's first time at PBIR, but he is by no means a rookie. I was there during their test day when he got plenty of laps to learn the right line and he was hauling the mail.
He also attended the Sports Car Driving Experience Corvette Racing School years back at Roebling Road, so what else can you expect but fast right out of the box.
Ingle's got nothing on Aaron.
Should I mention he was also on Kumho's? Unfair advantage?
Good to have seen you and your Dad again Aaron!

Nice job doood !!!
As for the nay-sayers.....Could be the Kumhos, could be the LG headers, could be beginners luck (at PBIR ).....or could be that little sticker on the back of the car that you exemplify...

NCCC Convention
Dang Danny
I've got to meet you and see you run some day. I've heard so much about you from Denny Murphy, Arron and his family, and Paul @ Vansteel.
They tell me you can help me set up my new C3 (old C-3?) for NCCC Group II but that will have to wait till I recover the budget!
I'll have pictures of the low and high speed on photobucket soon. I want to put captions on them as I can figure out the driver's names.
Aaron, I did look up the date codes on the V700s I was running. Does 3 of 2003 sound good? I brought a knife to a gun fight running in Group II but had a great time just the same.

Congrats on the good times Aaron. I wish I could have come down, but trying to save for a house. Dad said he had a good time down there even with letting Randy Ashton drive his car and beating dad in the Low speed. I will hopefully see you in Chicago next year since it's practally in my back yard (1.5hr away)
Locke,
What class do you run? I run 2C/D with my 73 and 76. I hope to see you up in Chicago next year also. Or if you can come up to an Indiana region event. I know Denny and Manny have both been up here.

I bought the car in my avitar two weeks before Convention. It was a thrash to get it safe to run the low speed. It had the body off the frame and the driveline partially restored by the previous owner, he was proud of getting things like the correct muffler hangers and brake line clips from Ecklers but the steering box is worn out and the rotors are pitted from rust along time ago.
The fender flairs put me in Group II so I got the 4" spacers and ran a set of seven year old V700s from my C-4 that hadn't been used in a couple of years by me. Like I said, I brought a knife to a gun fight.
First I have to make the car go straight and stop, then I can start making it somewhat competitive in Gp II B.
Anyway, we're stealing Arron's thread.
The pictures I took at Convention can be found at:

Some are good, some blurry. I didn't get around to putting the people's names on them.
Enjoy!
