Default Question for those with LS2 & LS3 motors

Do you guys have the same problem with oil in the intake as those of us with LS1 and LS6 motors?
Is there a need for an oil catch can on these motors?

Thanks for the headsup, I was aware of that issue. I have a friend who wants to put an oil catch can on his C6. I didn't think those motors had the same PCV issues that the LS6 and LS1 have. Therefore I was thinking the catch can was a waste of money.

Can't comment on street use by my track-only LS2 does get a ton of oil in in the intake under high-g, high rpm conditions.

I'm about to install a dual catch can setup to see if that resolves it until I go full dry sump for my winter upgrade.

That's what I was looking for. So it appears it may be a characteristic of the LSx motors in general. Of course one example doesn't make the case but we'll see.

Install a catch can in LS1, LS2, LS3 and LS6 engines.

On LS1 engines use the LS6 valley cover.

Of course dry sump is always good but obviously expensive.

I have an LS2 engine with Elite Engineering Catch can, and after a 5000 miles and two track days it was about half full with oil. So in my case it's catching oil like it is supposed to.

I run the snot out of my LS2 and generally put about 1/2 quart over or a bit less in at the start. I have an OCC but do not get much in it at all.
When I put more than 1/2 quart over, then I get a full OCC and blowby.

It seems to do very well with just a bit over full, anything else is wasted into the OCC

My LS2 has a occ and and oil cap breather. I usually add up to an extra quart before each track day. Somewhere I lose about 1/2 a quart per track day, but occ only has 1-2 tblsp. When I removed intake a couple of months ago after 4 track days in 4 mos, it was clean as a whistle. Not sure where it goes, but at least it is not in the intake. I had the same set up on my sc LS6 and when it blew, there was just a small amount in the intake valley after a summer of track days, but occ would get 1/2 full after every other track day. HTH.
